According to our sources, Anthony Boyle will be appearing alongside Julia Garner in an upcoming Netflix miniseries that explores the story of FTX’s success and downfall, which we at EbMaster have discovered.
Boyle has been confirmed to portray Sam Bankman-Fried in the upcoming series called “The Altruists,” while Garner takes on the character of Caroline Ellison. It was previously announced that Garner was in talks for this role, and now the deal is official. Earlier reports also stated that Netflix would produce eight episodes of the show.
The storyline for “The Altruists” is about Sam Bankman-Fried and Caroline Ellison, two intelligent and driven young visionaries who aimed to dramatically reshape the worldwide financial system in a moment’s notice. However, they found themselves enticed, persuaded, and tempted by one another into embezzling an astounding $8 billion.
Graham Moore and Jacqueline Hoyt are the co-executive producers and joint showrunners. Garner will not only star in the series but also executive produce. James Ponsoldt will direct the initial episode and will also serve as an executive producer. Vinnie Malhotra and Jessie Dicovitsky act as executive producers for Higher Ground Productions, while Scoop Wasserstein does so for New York Magazine/Vox Media Studios, along with Tonia Davis and Lauren Morelli.
Garner returns to Netflix, having previously starred in the acclaimed crime dramas “Ozark” and “Inventing Anna.” The latter production was jointly created by Vox/New York Magazine and Netflix. She garnered three Emmy nominations, winning thrice for her role as best supporting actress in a drama series on “Ozark,” and another nomination for her leading role in “Inventanna” in the limited series category.
Boyle’s television work spans popular series like “Say Nothing” on FX, “Manhunt” and “Masters of the Air” on Apple TV+, and “The Plot Against America” on HBO. He has also appeared in films such as “Tetris” and “Tolkien,” and originated the role of Scorpius Malfoy in “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child,” both in London’s West End and on Broadway. His performance earned him an Olivier Award and nominations for Tony and Drama Desk Awards.
He is repped by WME, Hamilton Hodell, and Johnson Shapiro Slewett & Kole.
