As a passionate One Piece fan, I’ve noticed two games on the Nintendo Switch eShop that seem to share an uncanny resemblance to the iconic style of my beloved series. This similarity has ignited a wave of disapproval among the community, as we can’t help but feel these games are treading on hallowed ground.

According to Automaton’s report, two video games with a pirate theme have been added to the Nintendo eShop, even though their character designs bear a resemblance to Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece series. The specific games are Pirate Anime Quest: One Boys’ Journey, A Love Piece of Island, and Pirate Anime Quest: One Girls’ Journey, Another Love Piece of Island.

Two games from Red Fables are scheduled for release on May 29th, and they share a resemblance to the popular Suika Game of 2023. Although gameplay footage isn’t available yet, the descriptions suggest that both games require players to strategically match fruits in order to unveil bold pictures and endings.

During their adventure filled with puzzles, players will encounter alluring pirate characters, who seem to be accessible upon accumulating points within the puzzle phases. It turns out that these “alluring pirates” have piqued the interest of enthusiasts of the One Piece series.

One Piece fans slam Switch eShop puzzle games

Indeed, it doesn’t resemble Eiichiro Oda’s usual art style; instead, it appears to combine multiple characters’ features. The face and tattoo are reminiscent of Nami, the body seems to be Luffy’s, and the clothing style looks like Katakuri’s.

Wow, it’s fascinating how the tagline of this game, “One Piece,” is structured with the two words side by side. It sort of feels like a clever satire, if not for the fact that they’re seeking our hard-earned dollars. As a fan, I can’t help but wonder if there’s a hidden joke in there somewhere!

Despite some fans pointing out the high cost of the games, it was the likenesses, and the unusual nature of the character designs that received the most criticism.

One user pointed out some intriguing details in the AI’s choice of attire, suggesting it as a clue to its artificial nature: “I enjoy scrutinizing the fashion choices of AI, looking for signs that it’s just a simple program lacking a sense of the real world,” they said.

It seems you’re misunderstanding the function of buttons, the shoulder pads and tassels appear to be out of place, and I must say, it’s puzzling that artificial intelligence doesn’t seem to grasp the concept of belts.”

This way, the sentence is still conveyng the same message but in a more natural and easy-to-read manner.

Currently, I’m excitedly preparing to pre-order two fantastic games that will set me back just $5.96 each! They’re slated for release on May 29th. Can’t wait!
