After streamer Emiru was assaulted at TwitchCon 2025, Twitch CEO Dan Clancy publicly stated that keeping creators safe is the company’s main concern.
In a conversation with journalist Taylor Lorenz, Clancy confirmed the situation was concerning and stated that Twitch was thoroughly investigating the events that occurred at the convention.
During TwitchCon on October 17th, a man unexpectedly grabbed Emiru while she was on stage. Security intervened and removed the man, and Emiru was then helped off stage.
Clancy says Twitch is reviewing “everything that happened”
Clancy emphasized that protecting creators is the company’s main concern. He explained that the issue isn’t unique to Twitch, but rather a broader problem facing society as a whole.

Clancy believes that livestreamers have a lot of control over their online communities. They can remove people they don’t want interacting with their content, essentially curating who participates.
He directly addressed the recent attack, stating that they are taking it very seriously and thoroughly investigating what happened. He also expressed his personal concern for Emiru, a friend of his, and wants to ensure she receives the support she needs.
Twitch believes its safety and security measures are among the best in the business, but acknowledges there’s still room for improvement.
Clancy’s statements follow ongoing concerns about safety at TwitchCon, leading many content creators to advise others against attending.
