YouTuber risks life to win back-to-back Gloucester cheese rolling races

A YouTube personality has managed to claim two consecutive victories in the men’s initial downhill race at the yearly cheese-rolling event held in Brockworth, England.

Every year, I’m always drawn to the electrifying world of extreme sports online, and one event that never fails to get my adrenaline pumping is the annual cheese-rolling race in Gloucestershire. Since 1826, this thrilling competition has been a staple, where participants race down a steep hill at breakneck speeds after rolling wheels of cheese. The first one to grab it takes home the victory!

As a gamer diving into this competition, I’ve got to admit, there’s a substantial risk of injury and potential viral fame ahead. But Now that’s something I’d be racing for!

For quite a while, this competition was exclusively participated in by residents, but as of late, an increasing number of non-locals have been joining in. In the year 2024, YouTube sensation IShowSpeed took part and managed to come in fourth place.

German YouTuber Tooleko wins cheese-rolling race again

Instead, it was German YouTuber Tom Kopke who claimed the championship in the previous year. He made a comeback in 2025 with the aim of defending his initial victory from the first race. As expected, he successfully accomplished this feat.

Kopke, with over 366,000 subscribers on his ‘Tooleko’ YouTube channel, said to reporters that this year was remarkably distinct compared to last. While the hill was slippery and muddy last year, this time it was arid and risky, leading to injuries among participants.

I let go, took action without hesitation. Despite others claiming they’d take my achievement, this victory is truly mine. I’ve earned it, and I’ve put my life on the line for it. This success is like a hard-won chunk of cheese; it belongs to me.

Twice in a row, German athlete Tom Kopke has claimed victory as the Cheese Chasing Champion – an astonishing feat in sports! This amazing accomplishment was repeated at the annual Cooper’s Hill Cheese-Rolling and Wake event held in Gloucestershire.

It’s important to mention that the competition is extremely risky, frequently resulting in bruises and scrapes for participants, with some even requiring hospitalization due to fractures. Already this year, several videos have become popular online, such as one showing a runner tumbling end over end while descending the slope.

Kopke bore numerous injuries across his body alongside his accomplishments and mound of cheese, yet his consecutive victories are truly remarkable.
