Hasan wants Twitch to change rule after his ban and hints at YouTube streaming

As an ardent supporter of Hasan Piker, I can’t help but express my thoughts about his recent 24-hour suspension from Twitch, which occurred after he read and analyzed a manifesto. In the spirit of open dialogue, I believe it’s crucial for Twitch to reconsider their rules to ensure they are fair, balanced, and supportive of diverse content creation, while still maintaining a safe environment for its community.

In a YouTube video named “Suspended Again,” which he uploaded to his channel soon following his May 25 ban, Piker explained his rationale behind discussing the topic and voiced his disagreement with Twitch’s policies.

In the video, Piker clarified that this pertains to certain rules within Twitch’s Service Agreement. Specifically, it prohibits broadcasting any violent extremist manifesto, even when criticizing it. In his opinion, this rule seems problematic as it may negatively impact news reporting and press freedom.

I’m prepared to accept this suspension, but I genuinely hope that Twitch revises its policies in the future. I have faith that they could make such a change.

The ban resulted from a live broadcast where Piker analyzed the manifesto of an individual who carried out an attack on Israeli embassy staff in Washington, D.C., on May 21st. Piker claimed he aimed to offer context and encourage media literacy, as he felt there was misinformation circulating following the incident.

Additionally, he emphasized that his manifesto was openly obtained and published by reporters like Ken Klippenstein and Aric Toler.

Piker carefully scrutinized the manifesto since people were jumping to conclusions online,” he stated. “This is a method I’ve consistently employed – providing context and analysis for developing news stories, encouraging critical thinking among my audience.

Previously, Piker had critiqued other manifestos on his live stream without any repercussions. However, he claims this time was unique due to external political influence.

“There is no connection between me and the shooter,” Piker added.

I delved into the reasons behind the Israeli embassy staff shooter’s actions. Twitch’s terms of service mandate a suspension for scrutinizing the manifesto, which I find to be an unfair policy that hinders news coverage and press freedom. I plan to abide by the suspension but hope Twitch reconsiders this policy in the future.

Hasan considers YouTube streaming

In simpler terms, Twitch’s rules forbid users from streaming any content related to violent extremist manifestos, regardless if it’s presented critically or educationally.

In my latest video, I expressed my hope that you’ll continue to stand by me on YouTube. Regardless of whether I get removed from Twitch altogether, I’m determined to carry on. And even if I’m banned from all platforms, the truth will eventually surface.

As a devoted admirer, I find myself contemplating the exciting prospect of streaming content simultaneously across two platforms – YouTube and Twitch. In my own words, it would be something like this: “I’m considering venturing into dual-streaming, not on TikTok, but on YouTube.
