A Company Called “Gestetta” Has Been Appearing Throughout Doctor Who Season 15

To many Doctor Who fans, the term “‘Gestetta’” might not hold much significance, but attentive viewers might have noticed its increasing presence in season 15. One of its more intriguing appearances has been on a panel aboard the mining base in episode 3, titled “The Well.” It appears that Gestetta may be responsible for designing and constructing the facility that serves as the main setting for the sequel to the 2008 episode “Midnight,” which featured David Tennant’s Tenth Doctor and his first encounter with the ominous and yet-unnamed entity.
Coming up with a company name for such a fleeting scene would have been neat, yet unconventional. Fortunately, it turns out that “The Well” was merely a hint leading to the revelation of who Gestetta is. At the conclusion of “Wish World,” the name becomes apparent as it’s displayed on a skyscraper when London begins collapsing into the Underverse during Omega’s escape. There are only speculations about what links the mining facility in “The Well” and the structure in “Wish World,” but I have no doubt that they share some kind of connection.
The Gestetta Company Could Be Doctor Who Season 16’s New Big Plot Thread

In the modern era of “Doctor Who”, there is a tendency for the series to subtly introduce its upcoming major plotlines even while other stories are still unfolding or before viewers have fully grasped what’s coming next. Russell T. Davies, in particular, has shown an exceptional knack for this approach, as seen in the gradual unveiling of the “Bad Wolf” storyline during his initial tenure as showrunner. The hints of the Gestetta teases suggest a similar pattern may be emerging.
Indeed, at this point, it’s hard to predict the direction of the implied Gestetta arc, much like with Bad Wolf. What makes the hints about Gestetta intriguing is that their name has surfaced not only on contemporary Earth but also on a mining colony on a distant planet and in the future. I can only imagine that Davies has a clever plan to link these two occurrences, along with further appearances of the name Gesetta, leading up to the grand revelation.
It appears that the upcoming journey of Doctor Who remains uncertain, as although there’s speculation about a miniseries titled The War Between the Land and Sea set for 2025, the release of season 16 has yet to be confirmed. More episodes are needed to resolve the ongoing Gestetta mystery, but some sources suggest that the show may take a break following season 15, with an uncertain duration. As per Doctor Who TV, at least two more seasons have been planned, but it seems these might proceed without Disney’s participation in the future.
