According to EbMaster, Netflix has emerged victorious over other contenders for the acquisition of Richard Linklater’s critically acclaimed Cannes Film Festival entry, “Nouvelle Vague.” The film was initially screened in competition at the festival.

Since the movie was bought by the streaming behemoth, it’s not certain that it will have a theatrical release beyond the initial two weeks required for award eligibility. This point carries a hint of irony, as the film is a tribute to Jean-Luc Godard’s “Breathless,” a cinematic masterpiece often recognized as one of the most significant achievements in film history.
