Indie classic FTL: Faster Than Ligh with a lot of new content thanks to fan add-on

It’s been thirteen years since the debut of FTL: Faster Than Light, and despite no new development for a decade, its popularity remains strong – over 1,700 players were enjoying it simultaneously on Steam yesterday. If you’re still captaining spaceships or considering a return to the game, news about the release of FTL: Multiverse’s latest version might pique your interest!

We’ve been eagerly anticipating the update since it first came out in January 2024, and now that the 5.5 version has been released, we’re excited to explore all its innovative additions!

  1. The creator added regular allied Federation sectors to help you on your quest
  2. He also added Stargrove, a unique sector filled with never before seen hazards and dangers
  3. Redesigned all Federation ships with intricate new hulls
  4. There’s also a variety of of QoL changes, such as instant cloning out of combat, cruiser renaming mid-run, and extended ship information in the hangar.
  5. Last, but not least – a custom Multiverse tutorial was introduced, recommended for new players to help get to grips with mod’s mechanics.

The newest version of the mod is 5.5.

Give FTL: Multiverse a try if you haven’t before! This unofficial add-on significantly enhances the game by introducing numerous elements. It includes hundreds of new playable ships, mysterious enemy units, a multitude of weapon types, drones, and upgrades. Not only that, but it also boosts crew diversity with unique abilities, special features, and improved interfaces. Furthermore, it adds depth to the storyline with fresh characters, events, and additional quest sequences featuring multiple routes and endings.
