The character played by Alana de la Garza, Isobel Castille from FBI, finds herself in an uncertain position after the season 7 finale‘s surprising turn of events. This twist could potentially benefit Jubal Valentine. In the final episode, it’s revealed that the anti-government group Forefront infiltrated the FBI’s New York office and orchestrated a deadly attack using explosive-rigged cell phones, resulting in the loss of multiple agents. Isobel, among others, was believed to have perished from the explosion, but she miraculously survived and feigned cooperation with Deputy Assistant Director Simon Keene, who is a Forefront operative. She managed to secretly record Keene conspiring with Special Agent Wabash, another mole, providing evidence for their arrest.
Following a triumphant operation, the team appeared to be thriving. However, tragedy struck towards the end of the show, as Isobel collapsed unconsciously outside the FBI office, causing great concern among viewers about her fate in the next season of FBI. Jubal discovered her in this state and quickly realized she was not breathing. This sudden event left the storyline hanging precariously for season 8, sparking curiosity about Isobel’s destiny.
Isobel Leaving FBI Paves The Way For Jubal’s Long-Awaited Promotion
If Isobel is absent for Season 8, there might be a chance that Jubal, who is currently the Assistant Special Agent, will assume her role as the Special Agent in Charge of the New York Field Office.
In his career, Jubal has long aspired to reach the supervisory position, and now that opportunity presents itself. Despite the pleasure he’s derived from working alongside Isobel for seven seasons, it’s clear that Jubal is deserving of a promotion. Yet, I can hardly imagine Jubal would welcome this promotion under such circumstances. If Isobel were to pass away and Jubal were to assume her position, he might find it challenging to adapt to his new role without feeling like he hadn’t truly earned the position fairly.
Why Jubal Has Never Been Promoted As Supervisor In Charge Despite Multiple FBI Boss Changes
It isn’t made clear why character Jubal didn’t get a promotion during the seven seasons of FBI. Despite being a competent leader, Jubal prioritizes doing his job well over seeking promotions. In the realm of national security, individuals are often more concerned with ensuring safety than pursuing promotions; however, this doesn’t mean that people like Jubal aren’t deserving or haven’t considered it. On the contrary, he has previously applied for such a position.
Given he didn’t secure the role, it seems Jubal might have decided to let Isobel and his long-term supervisor handle leadership matters further. Moreover, he has some personal challenges, like alcohol problems, that could potentially block any upcoming promotions. Yet, Jubal is worthy of a promotion and may receive one if Isobel doesn’t reappear in the next season.
