Hasan responds after being banned from Twitch

On May 25, 2025, Hasan was barred from Twitch. He addressed the suspension notice the very same day, explaining the reasons behind Twitch’s decision to restrict his account.

The individual known for streaming political discussions and comments announced via his Twitter or X account that Twitch temporarily suspended his channel worldwide.

Although it’s anticipated that the ban will continue for a full day following its initiation, the duration hasn’t been definitively stated since Twitch’s communication didn’t clarify the length of the ban.

Twitch cited “Improper handling of terrorist propaganda” as the reason for the action taken.

Hasan responds to Twitch ban

In a tweet posted on May 25th, Hasan explained that he had investigated the reasons behind the shooting at the Israeli embassy and stated that Twitch’s terms of service require a suspension for any in-depth analysis of the shooter’s manifesto.

He went on to express his view that this policy is harmful for news and press freedom. He’s prepared to accept the suspension, but he hopes Twitch will reconsider this policy in the future.

As a dedicated Twitch user, I personally adhere to their clear stance against content that promotes, glorifies, or condones terrorism, violent extremism, or harmful actions. This encompasses any form of content that incites others to carry out acts causing severe physical injury or extensive property damage.

In the instance given, it’s pointed out that users should avoid showing or connecting to any content that promotes terrorism or extremism, such as disturbing images or videos of terrorist or extremist actions, regardless if it’s done to condemn such material.

Since July 2019, the streamer Hasan has faced a ban six different times, and among these, the bans on August 23, 2019, and December 14, 2021, each lasted for a duration of seven days.
