In 2023, when Season 3 of Ted Lasso concluded, there seemed to be a possibility that the show might have ended. Though there were potential paths for the AFC Richmond storyline, it was uncertain if these would materialize. However, good news! The series is indeed continuing, and actress Hannah Waddingham has provided updates on the upcoming Season 4, even sharing an intriguing tidbit about its plot.
Last March, it was officially announced by Jason Sudeikis that Season 4 of “Ted Lasso” was indeed happening, following numerous whispers and speculation regarding the show’s possible comeback. Since then, several members of the cast have voiced their thoughts about going back to Richmond, and Hannah Waddingham is one of them. In a recent conversation with Capital FM, she was queried about reprising her role as Rebecca, to which she replied:
It seems as though we had assumed the loss was permanently gone, but now it appears to be resurfacing.

Hannah Waddingham Speaks Frankly on the Latest Ted Lasso Season 4 Rumors with a Dash of Humor
The idea expressed in this context is consistent with previous discussions about Season 4 of Ted Lasso. More specifically, Brett Goldstein shared an anecdote involving a deceitful cat incident that conveyed the same message. He recounted a situation where a friend believed their cat had passed away, leading his family to mourn and bury it. However, upon further discovery, it was not their actual pet but another cat, and eventually, their own cat did come home again.
In relation to Ted Lasso, the actor who portrays Roy Kent shared that he felt much like a child, reminiscing about the series as it comes back on screen over two years since its conclusion. He stated that there were tears and a memorial service, yet they are now moving forward with a comeback.
In that interview, Goldstein echoed a statement previously made by Sudeikis when they both affirmed that Season 4 was in development. Additionally, Goldstein shared that the upcoming season would focus on his character coaching a women’s team.
Currently, Waddingham’s recent announcement has verified Rebecca’s comeback and provided a shooting schedule. To put it simply, he mentioned that the timetable for filming is set along with her return.
Yeah, it’s amazing! We start shooting in July.

It’s incredible how engaging this series has become! Given the long wait for Season 3 and the years that have passed since it ended, I was unsure when we might see Season 4. To my surprise, I still don’t know the release date, but Waddingham’s recent update brings hope for a positive development.
Hearing that they’ll start production this summer leaves me optimistic for a possible release in 2026. Although we can’t specify an exact date, the actress from “Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning” hinting at it may suggest that it could arrive earlier than expected.
Hopefully, we’ll have an opportunity to enjoy Season 4 of Ted Lasso on our Apple TV+ subscription within the next year or so. Until then, I’ll be content that the show was brought back and will revisit the charming first three seasons to refresh my memories about AFC Richmond.
