Hold Onto Your Wallets: XRP Ledger Just Got a Major Upgrade! 🚀
In a twist that could only be described as thrilling (if you’re a software engineer), RippleX‘s very own Mayukha Vadari recently took to X to announce that the Batch amendment pull request (PR) has officially been merged into the XRP Ledger (XRPL) codebase. Yes, you heard that right! This means that the feature will be included in the upcoming Rippled release. 🎉
👀
Congrats @angell_denis on your first XRPL feature amendment!
For those who don’t know what this is, it shows that the Batch amendment PR has been merged, which means that it’ll be included in the next rippled release.

Meanwhile, Vet, an XRPL dUNL validator (yes, that’s a thing), also tweeted about this monumental milestone, signaling that the community is buzzing with excitement. And why wouldn’t they be? The XLS-56 Batch Transactions will allow users to batch transactions using the XLS-56d specification, supporting all transaction types with a limit of eight. It’s like a buffet for transactions, but without the awkward small talk! 🍽️
But wait, there’s more! The amendment also supports atomic swaps, which sounds like something out of a sci-fi movie, but is actually just a fancy way of saying you can trade things without worrying about them disappearing into the void. 🪐
XLS-56 allows for smart transaction dependency logic within a set of transactions that it bundles. Vet highlighted its use cases, which range from XRPL project monetization to NFT p2p trading. So, if you’ve ever wanted to trade digital cats for virtual real estate, your dreams are about to come true! 🐱🏡
In a recent revelation, Mayukha Vadari hinted at a plethora of new features coming to the XRP Ledger, one of which is, you guessed it, batch transactions. But that’s not all folks! Other features include Account Permission Delegation, currently being tested on devnet, and Multipurpose tokens (MPTs), Credentials, Permissioned Domains, and Dynamic NFTs, which are all waiting for their moment in the spotlight on mainnet. Smart Escrows are also currently testing on the WASM devnet, because why not throw in a little extra chaos? 🎭
Major release anticipated
The upcoming 2.5.0 release, expected in June, is anticipated to result in significantly lower memory and bandwidth use for node operators. Because who doesn’t want to save a few bytes here and there? 💾
In an April blog post, RippleX hinted at a custom intrusive pointer that can handle strong and weak pointers. When measuring memory usage on a mainnet validator, this change resulted in 10-15% memory savings. This improvement has been merged and will be included in the upcoming 2.5.0 release. It’s like finding a $20 bill in your old coat pocket—unexpected but delightful!
Two fail-safes were also created to prevent a consensus round from remaining in the “establish” phase indefinitely. They will be included in the 2.5.0 release. Squelching was first proposed a few years ago but never fully implemented. RippleX aims to include this approach in the upcoming 2.5.0 release. Because who doesn’t love a good squelch? 🐸
This week, Schuman Financial’s EURØP became the first MiCA-compliant euro stablecoin on XRP Ledger. And if that wasn’t enough to get your heart racing, USDB, Braza Group’s new USD-backed stablecoin, will also launch on XRP Ledger. It’s a veritable cornucopia of financial innovation! 💰
