If you’re familiar with the Marvel film series, you’ve probably noticed that release dates tend to change from year to year. As a fan, I believe these adjustments usually indicate that the filmmakers are giving the movie extra time to reach its full potential and deliver an outstanding performance.
On Thursday, it came to light that “Avengers: Doomsday” and “Avengers: Secret Wars”, initially set for May 2026 and 2027, have been shifted to December 2026 and 2027 respectively. However, there seems to be less buzz surrounding the fact that “The Devil Wears Prada 2” could potentially claim “Doomsday’s” release date, which is set for May 1, 2026. I want this topic to become a more widespread discussion.
Everyone’s Been Talking About Avengers: Doomsday’s New Release Date
From my perspective, I’m quite content with the new release dates for “Doomsday” on December 18, 2026, and “Secret Wars” on December 17, 2027. Traditionally, we haven’t seen an Avengers movie come out during the holiday season, so I find this shift quite exciting. Furthermore, production on the film only began last month, and a year isn’t a long time for such a massive franchise to prepare their next Marvel event film.
Ever since the announcement, the main topics of discussion have centered around the release date for “Dune: Messiah,” as it’s slated to hit theaters on the same day. If this does indeed occur, it would be a significant event in the movie industry given the sizeable nature of these franchises. However, I must admit that I’m not entirely confident about the success of “Messiah” due to the lack of recent news regarding it. It should also be noted that “Dune” movies have experienced delays in the past.
With a Disney+ subscription, you can enjoy streaming both “The Devil Wears Prada” and the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe library. The new ad-supported plan is available for just $9.99 per month. For an ad-free experience, you can opt for the monthly price of $15.99 or save 16% by pre-paying $159.99 annually. Check out the deal here!
But, The Devil Wears Prada 2 News That Came With It Is A Big Deal In My Opinion
It seems significant to me that “The Devil Wears Prada 2” has been scheduled for release in the time slot previously occupied by “Doomsday,” which is a highly coveted position. Essentially, it’s a big announcement because a comedy film produced by Disney is slated for a prime spot at the beginning of summer. I believe this demonstrates a strong confidence in the sequel.
The proposed continuation of “The Devil Wears Prada” was initially revealed in July, with news that the author of the original film would handle the script. However, I’ve been somewhat indifferent towards this movie due to lack of updates regarding the return of the original cast members such as Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci (Tucci mentioned in October that he hadn’t received any news about it). Nevertheless, I find it hard to believe that Disney would greenlight a sequel and position it where the “Avengers” franchise once stood without some significant plans for it.
To be honest, I believe the transition we’re seeing with “Doomsday” might partially stem from “Thunderbolts” underperforming commercially as Disney had hoped. However, I’m thrilled to learn that “The Devil Wears Prada 2” has found a spot on the theatrical schedule, which gives me renewed faith in the studio’s upcoming projects. That’s about it!
