However, the departure of many key cast members after season 6 paved the way for new leading characters in season 7.
Specifically, during season 7 of “All American,” Cassius and Kingston “KJ” Jeremy made their entrance in LA. Cassius stepped into the role as head coach at Beverly High, while KJ became his starting quarterback. Meanwhile, across town, Jordan and Layla Baker joined the series as mature characters. Jordan took on a coaching position at Crenshaw, and Layla ran her own bar. As the game neared its end, however, KJ launched a long pass, and the screen faded out with the ball still suspended mid-air. Their Families Have A Long Secret History
In All American season 7, it’s revealed that the Baker and Jeremy family history holds a significant secret – the identity of their grandmother’s other son, who was unknown to Jordan, Olivia, or even themselves. The shocking twist uncovered in season 7 is that their father had a long-lost brother named Frank Jeremy, who happens to be Cassius’s dad.
What’s more, it’s disclosed that Cassius traveled to LA to execute a plan he and his father conceived together, aimed at tarnishing Billy Baker’s reputation, as they believed he unfairly possessed what should have been theirs – his coaching legacy and financial success.
It turns out that KJ, Jordan, and Olivia learn about this plan towards the end of the season, which stirs up a lot of tension within the family. Due to the arrival of fresh characters, The seventh season of All American delved deeply into nurturing new romantic relationships. Coop embarked on law school and felt a strong connection with her new mentor. By the end of the season, she found the courage to ask out her professor, and they shared a kiss, hinting at an intriguing future for the couple. At the same time, the season followed Cassius as he grappled with his wife’s wish for separation and their dwindling passion after decades of marriage. However, by the final game, she showed signs of returning to him, and they started rekindling their love.
In the midst of both schools, the younger characters formed intricate new friendships and romances. Amina harbored deepening feelings for Khalil, yet her connection with KJ was palpable. KJ and Amina grew close, with him eventually dating Tori. By the season finale, KJ openly acknowledged his relationship with Tori at the football game, which made Amina recognize she had feelings for him unknowingly. This realization prompted her to agree to attend boarding school, however given the series is All American, it’s certain that her relationships with Khalil and KJ will be further explored.

In many aspects, the seventh season of All American seemed like a series undergoing transformation. There were significant shifts and character progressions for both established figures and fresh favorites. Consequently, several storylines appear incomplete, with Cassius’s and KJ’s narratives being just the beginning. Even longstanding characters find themselves in unprecedented scenarios as Coop, Layla, and Jordan grapple with the responsibilities of maturity and mentorship for the first time. These evolving arcs make for captivating viewing, but they also indicate that the show is undergoing a metamorphosis.
As a dedicated movie reviewer, I’ve just finished watching the intense, climactic football game at the end of Season 7 of All American. This game mirrors the unpredictable turns in the lives of our main characters, Layla, Amina, and Cassius, perfectly. Just like the game that ends without a definitive winner, their futures remain uncertain – will Layla and Amina find clarity, or will Cassius finally find his path to redemption?
The players, much like these characters, are unsure where the ball will land, both literally and figuratively. This suspense leaves us eagerly anticipating Season 8, although its renewal has yet to be announced. The question on everyone’s mind is: will we get to witness how these characters navigate their new choices and directions?
