Nintendo Switch 2 Is Compatible With A Standard USB Mouse

One fascinating aspect of the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 is the enhancement in its Joy-Con 2 controllers, which offer mouse-like functionality for select games. This has been a frequently requested feature among gamers, and it seems that those who prefer using mice now have that option available on the Switch 2 as well.

During a showcase of Nobunaga’s Ambition: Awakening CE on Nintendo Switch (as per Insider Gaming), the producer, Michi Ryu, connected a wired mouse to the console and proceeded to play using it. Interestingly, when the mouse is attached, it takes command away from the Joy-Con 2 controllers. You can see him utilizing the mouse at approximately the 10:53 mark in the video below.

While it’s not guaranteed that all strategy games for Switch 2 will support a standard mouse, nor is it certain if wireless mice are compatible, Julian Gollop’s suggestion hints at the possibility of more strategic games being developed for the Switch 2 due to its potential mouse capabilities.

As a dedicated Nintendo enthusiast, I can’t wait to get my hands on the new 3v3 sports title, Drag x Drive! The innovative use of the Joy-Con 2’s mouse capabilities promises an enhanced gaming experience. Similarly, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is set to offer seamless switching between the Joy-Con 2’s controller and mouse-like functions for improved aiming in the upcoming sequel. Recently, Nintendo has given us a sneak peek into how this mouse functionality will be implemented, making me even more excited for these upcoming releases!
