Discover methods for capturing Machamp, the powerful combatant that is one of the most iconic characters in the Pokémon series, as well as its preceding forms, and even the Shiny variants, within the Pokémon Go game.
Among the initial 151 Pokémon hailing from the Kanto region, Machop stands out as one. Notably, in Niantic’s game, Machop ranks among the top Fighting-type Pokémon that can be found.
To mark the conclusion of the season dedicated to a specific kind of Pokémon, Machop, is set to star in the upcoming Community Day Special Event. Additionally, its evolved form, Machamp, will gain the Gigantamax transformation.
So, learn everything you need to know to catch this creature and take it to its full potential.
How to get Machop in Pokemon Go
Ever since the game’s debut, I’ve been on a quest to catch ’em all, and that includes little guys like Machop. Over time, I’ve discovered numerous strategies for catching him. Nowadays, he seems to elude my Pokeballs in specific locations only, making the hunt even more exciting!
- As a wild encounter (increased spawns during the May 24 Community Day Classic)
- As a 2-Star Max Battle boss
In the past, Machop was obtainable from 2km, 5km, and 7km Eggs for players. Additionally, it served as a Tier 1 Raid boss, a reward for completing various Field Research, Special Research, or Timed Research. For a period of time, its Shadow variant was associated with Team Go Rocket, allowing trainers to rescue it from Cliff’s control.
How to evolve Machop into Machoke and Machamp
In this small family of three, Machop is one of the members. To log all its evolutions in the Pokedex, a reasonable amount of Candy will be needed. Fortunately, no unique prerequisites or items are necessary for this task. For those who prefer a less strenuous approach, there’s also an alternative method available.
Players must give Machop 25 pieces of candy to transform it into Machoke. For Machoke to become Machamp, trainers have two options: they can either provide it with an additional 100 candies for natural evolution or trade it with another player to initiate the transformation process.
Machop Candy
During the forthcoming Community Day Classic, there should be no shortage of Machops for players to catch, ensuring an ample supply of Candy.
As a gamer, I’ve found an efficient trick – using Pinap Berries to boost the candy I get from catching Pokémon. This way, I can accumulate extra candies quickly. Plus, I can always transfer my excess Machops to Professor Willow, earning a few bonuses in return!
Apart from battling, they could also make a Pokemon their companion (or Buddy) for strolls and longer walks, or exchange Scarce Sweet (equivalent to Rare Candy) for additional Machop Treats.
How to get Gigantamax Machamp
In order to bid farewell to the Might and Mastery season in a fitting manner, Gigantamax Machamp will make its first appearance during a special Max Battle Day. The event is scheduled for Sunday, May 25, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM in the local time zone.
For a span of three hours, Power Spots will be controlled by the colossal Gigantamax Machamp. In these spots, you’ll find yourself engaged in intense 6-Star Max Battles. If you successfully conquer this mighty beast, there’s an opportunity for you to capture it.
For those not already aware, when you catch a Gigantamax Pokemon, it transforms back to its normal size. However, it can grow massive again during a Max Raid Battle.
Machop CP in Pokemon Go
In different environments, Machop’s Combat Power (CP) can change significantly, and this fluctuation is even more noticeable when influenced by weather conditions. Furthermore, similar to all Raid Bosses in the game, the CP of Dynamax Machop during a Max Raid Battle will not remain the same after you successfully capture it following its defeat.
Max Battle Raid boss CP | TBD |
CP range once captured | 678 – 730 |
Cloudy weather CP range | 848 – 913 |
Machop max CP (Level 50) | 1445 |

Can Machop be Shiny?
Indeed, it is possible for a Machop character in Pokemon Go to be Shiny, as this unique version was introduced within the game during the Battle Showdown event held in 2019. Additionally, both Shiny Shadow Machop and Shiny Dynamax Machop can also be encountered.
As a dedicated gamer, I’ve got my eyes peeled for the one-of-a-kind Shiny Machop. What sets it apart is its striking golden hue, a stark contrast to its usual grayish appearance.
If you evolve a Shiny Machop, you’ll be able to acquire both Shiny Machoke and Shiny Machamp, each sporting green bodies that bear a striking resemblance to Hulk’s family members. During the introduction of Gigantamax Machamp, particularly fortunate players might stumble upon a Shiny Gigantamax Machamp, which is also characterized by its green color.
It’s important to mention that the chance of discovering a Shiny Pokemon is quite rare because there’s no specific strategy or trick to make it appear.
It’s significant to point out that the probability of stumbling upon a Shiny Pokemon is extremely low, as there’s no particular tactic or method to induce an encounter.
To boost their odds, trainers should aim to capture as many Machops as possible. Don’t forget to utilize the Community Day Classic event with Machop and the Gigantamax Machamp Max Battle Day for this purpose.
