Marvel removes 3 movies from release calendar after Doomsday & Secret Wars delay

The release dates for Avengers: Endgame (previously known as Avengers: Doomsday) and Secret Wars have been postponed, and there’s more to it – Marvel Studios has decided to eliminate three films entirely from their upcoming cinematic lineup.

At the San Diego Comic-Con in 2022, Kevin Feige first presented Phase Six. Two significant changes were noticeable. Initially, the film titled Doomsday was known as Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, with a focus on Jonathan Majors’ antagonist. However,

Moreover, it’s worth noting that the two films initially had bold premiere schedules: slated for May 1st and November 7th in 2025. Immediately, industry analysts and enthusiasts alike expressed doubts, and as anticipated, they’ve faced delays on numerous occasions.

What other projects are planned for release after Doomsday on December 18, 2026 and Secret Wars on December 17, 2027?

Marvel axes 3 release dates as movies disappear from theatrical slate

According to Exhibitor Relations Co., three unnamed Marvel films initially scheduled for release have been taken off Disney’s upcoming movie lineup. These films were set to be launched on these specific dates:

  • February 2, 2026
  • November 6, 2026
  • November 5, 2027

Brand New Day will hit the screens on July 31, 2026.

Disney is removing the upcoming untitled Marvel movies from their release schedule on these dates: February 13, 2026, and November 6, 2026, as well as November 5, 2027. No new Marvel release dates have been added yet, which certainly raises some eyebrows.

The upcoming schedule is quite light compared to the Marvel franchise’s busy pace in the 2020s, which saw the release of 14 films following Endgame. This change also follows Bob Iger’s announcement of a modified production plan for Marvel, where the studio now intends to produce no more than three movies, two live-action series, and two animated series per year.

In simpler terms, the Disney CEO expressed his high satisfaction with the projects they’re working on, stating he’s dedicating more of his time to them. He has strong faith in the team and believes the intellectual property they’re exploiting, especially the sequels they’re developing, is unparalleled. (This information was reported by Variety.)

It seems these unexpected titles might have been intended for projects such as Armor Wars, Black Panther 3, or possibly Mahershala Ali’s long-developed but seldom-filmed Blade film.

Keep in mind that due to the numerous rumors about Marvel making significant appearances at this year’s Comic-Con, it’s possible that the previously announced panels were taken off the schedule to allow Kevin Feige to reveal new release dates in the near future.
