Caution: MobLand Season 1 reveals a major plot twist in episode 8 titled “Helter Skelter.” The identity of Kevin Harrigan’s mysterious “other brother” is finally unveiled, and based on clues given by his mother, Maeve, it could be one of the characters already present within the series or an unknown family member yet to be introduced. Kevin’s angry response to his mother suggests that this revelation may not sit well with him.
In the world of MobLand, the Harrigan clan is quite expansive and boasts a child born from an extramarital relationship – Seraphina, Conrad’s daughter with a dancer. Given their background, it wouldn’t be surprising if they harbored more secrets. As for who could possibly be Kevin’s surviving brother following the demise of Brendan, among the characters we’ve encountered in MobLand so far, there aren’t many fitting candidates. However, an intriguing hypothesis has emerged.
Is Eddie Harrigan Actually Kevin’s Brother Rather Than His Son?
It Seems Like A Plausible Twist For MobLand
It seems that there’s only one brother identity that fits logically with Kevin’s reaction: his own son, Eddie. This assumption makes sense because it appears that someone close to him could trigger such a response, and unless Maeve is fabricating or trying to hurt him by mentioning an old rumor, this seems the most sensible option. It doesn’t align with Harry being the other brother, as we have already witnessed their first encounter, and in the latest scene, Conrad expressed that he’s just gained a son – so Eddie appears to be the one causing the greatest impact.
As a devoted movie enthusiast, I can’t help but see parallels between the fictional character’s past and Conrad’s life. Bella, who later became Kevin’s wife and mother to Eddie, was once one of Conrad’s mistresses. The series subtly hinted at this, emphasizing that she was his top lady, and even had Conrad assert his ownership over her – a claim that would make sense if he were indeed Eddie’s father. From what we’ve observed so far, Eddie bears more resemblance to Conrad than to Kevin, which further supports this theory.
Eddie Being Kevin’s Brother Could Be Great For MobLand
The Development Could Improve The Character
It’s quite unexpected that Eddie is Conrad’s son, reminiscent of plot twists in daytime soap operas, but this could be beneficial for the series MobLand. This is primarily due to Eddie himself. He is not only the most dislikable character on the show, competing fiercely with his apparent grandparents for the title, but he’s also quite one-dimensional. So far, Eddie’s entire persona revolves around being obnoxious, and even when he momentarily revealed a softer side to himself, it was mostly to seduce Gina, Harry’s daughter.
From a movie lover’s perspective, if Eddie were to discover that Conrad is actually his biological father, it would provide an intriguing layer to the storyline. Growing up without a present father, I can only imagine how this revelation might affect him. How does he process the fact that the man he thought was Kevin, wasn’t? This newfound truth could drastically alter his relationship with Bella, given their shared history and bond. But what intrigues me most is the potential impact on Eddie and Maeve. Their connection has been one of the show’s strongest aspects. So, how would this revelation affect them, and what secrets might it uncover about their bond?

The final question is quite intriguing, and it introduces an unexpected twist in the theory. Maeve seems to detest Seraphina intensely, but she treats Eddie as if he’s pure gold. Since she’s aware of his parentage according to the theory, her kindness towards him appears puzzling. However, instead of disproving the theory, this could be a strategic move on Maeve’s part. It seems plausible that Maeve is manipulating Eddie for her own sinister purposes, which might escalate into a plot to bring down Conrad considering her risky and antagonistic behavior. This is especially significant since Eddie is Conrad’s son.
Eddie’s character in “MobLand” hasn’t yet captured much intrigue, and his significance in the plot seemed to diminish following his confrontation with Tommy Stevenson. Despite the extensive screen time dedicated to him, there are opportunities missed. This storyline presents a chance to elevate Eddie’s importance and provide additional layers to his character, offering depth that was previously lacking.
