‘The Devil Wears Prada’ Sequel Set for May 2026; Ridley Scott’s ‘The Dog Stars’ Dated for March

Turns out the devil (still) wears Prada!

Back in July of last year, it was announced that a new installment of the popular 2006 comedy “The Devil Wears Prada” is indeed being developed by Disney. Now, Disney has confirmed an official release date for this sequel: May 1st, 2026.

Despite the news from last year suggesting a return for Meryl Streep and Emily Blunt, no official cast members have been announced yet.

Stanley Tucci recently shared with EbMaster, “I’ve been informed they’re making progress on it. If it comes to fruition, I would be overjoyed, but I can’t disclose any details. Otherwise, I might find myself in actor jail or similar predicament. It was one of the most remarkable experiences I’ve had.

The movie ‘The Devil Wears Prada’ is loosely based on Lauren Weisberger’s 2003 novel, which details a young woman’s challenging work life at a high-end fashion magazine, a position she landed after Anna Wintour, the real-life editor of American Vogue, served as Weisberger’s employer. Meryl Streep portrayed Miranda Priestly, the powerful editor-in-chief of Runway magazine, while Anne Hathaway played Andrea Sachs, a journalism graduate who lands her dream job as Priestly’s assistant, despite lacking style and fashion sense. Emily Blunt played Emily, Priestley’s overworked assistant tasked with teaching Andy the ropes. Stanley Tucci portrayed Nigel, a long-time Runway editor who mentors Andy and shows her around the magazine’s vast fashion closet.

The upcoming chapter is said to focus on Priestley, who’s maneuvering through her professional life during the wane of conventional magazine publishing. She encounters Blunt’s character, who has risen to become a top executive for an upscale corporation, and whose advertising funds are crucial for Priestly’s survival in her career.

In the meantime, the post-apocalyptic movie “The Dog Stars,” directed by Ridley Scott, starring Jacob Elordi, Josh Brolin, and Margaret Qualley, is scheduled to premiere on March 27.

In related Disney updates, the movie “Avatar: The Path of Water” is set for a re-release in Imax/3D format on October 3, preceding the premiere of “Avatar: Fire and Dust” on December 19.
