In the upcoming third season of Squid Game, the creator promises even more nerve-wracking challenges. If you have a fear of these types of games, it might prove challenging for you to watch.
Keeping that in mind, it’s important to recognize the gravity of the obstacles faced in Squid Game, as losing a game means certain death. The methods of elimination vary; for instance, if you are eliminated during Red Light Green Light or Dalgona challenges, you will be shot, which could lead to an immediate demise.
Mixing may be considered one of the most unfavorable games, leaving its unfortunate participants darting about under the illusion of avoiding a grim fate. On the other hand, Tug of War and Glass Bridge offer a different perspective; players risk falling to the ground, potentially meeting an untimely end in a crumpled, painful state.
If the latter games made you uncomfortable, strap in for Season 3’s heart-thumping games.
Squid Game creator promises “intense” games in Season 3
In Season 2, we witnessed some of the series’ most challenging matches, and the creator of Squid Game, Hwang Dong-hyuk, hints that it will only grow more intense in Season 3.
Regarding season 3, my intention was to incorporate games that would highlight the absolute depths of humanity, as the storyline is nearing its peak, and I wanted to emphasize this dramatic turn,” he explained to EW.
“I wanted very intense games to bring out the bottom parts of human nature.”

As a die-hard admirer of Hwang’s work, I can tell you that although he didn’t delve deeply into the details of the upcoming games, he did express a keen interest in exploring one fear that resonates with me too – the fear of heights.
During Season 1, we featured many games such as Tug of War which effectively used height and the fear associated with it. However, in Season 2, we lacked that aspect where height was utilized or induced fear.
In Season 3, I opted to incorporate games that would create a palpable sense of fear due to their extreme verticality.
Apart from an unintentional spoiler leaked by one cast member on social media, it remains uncertain who among the Squid Game participants will survive. Creator Hwang Dong-hyuk confirmed that Season 3 serves as a conclusion, and it will delve into humanity’s darkest aspects while simultaneously exploring ways to protect it. Moreover, it will emphasize the importance of maintaining our humanity amidst fierce competition.
“I try to pose that as a final question,” he added.
