As a passionate cinephile, I’m thrilled to announce that Indie streaming powerhouse Nebula has cast the principal actors for their forthcoming anthology production titled “Sub/liminal.” This captivating series is set to feature an array of talented Broadway veterans.
Nebula characterizes the six-part series as reminiscent of “The Twilight Zone” and “Black Mirror,” since it delves into the complexities of power struggles within human connections, and illustrates the potential consequences when these interactions become unbalanced.
Joining the cast for the upcoming production “Sub/liminal” are Joseph Cross, known for roles in “Milk,” “Lincoln,” and “Big Little Lies”, as well as Lena Hall, a Tony Award winner and Grammy nominee from shows like “Hedwig and the Angry Inch” and “Your Friends and Neighbors”. Additionally, Caissie Levy, who has been nominated for both an Olivier and a Grammy, will be present. Kecia Lewis, a multiple Tony and Emmy winner, is also part of the cast, along with Patrick Page, a Tony nominee and Grammy winner. Lastly, John Rubinstein, recognized for his work in “Pippin” and “Children of a Lesser God”, rounds out this esteemed group.
The debut season of “Sub/liminal,” slated for release at the end of 2025 after filming started on May 19, features episodes crafted by renowned content creators on the Nebula platform such as Patrick Willems, Amir Moini, Jacob Torpey, Jessie Earl, Joe Scott, Tom van der Linden, Matthew Kelly and Tiana Michele.
The new cast members for “Sub/liminal” are Amir Arison known from “Dope Thief” and “The Blacklist”, Geoffrey Cantor famous for “Daredevil”, Courtnee Carter who starred in “Crutch”, Ali Cobrin recognized for “American Reunion”, Andrea Cortés from “Bosch: Legacy”, Nick Freni of “Jessica Jones”, Evelyn Giovine from “Audrey’s Children”, Timothy Hughes known for “Warriors” and “Sweeney Todd”, Ryan Jamaal Swain from “Pose”, Darius Jordan Lee from “Dexter: Resurrection”, Tony nominee Tom McGowan popular for “Frasier”, Eric T. Miller recognized in “Mare of Easttown” and “Nyad”, Benjamin Papac known for “Harry Potter & The Cursed Child”, Rosa Procaccino from “Humiliation”, Geena Quintos from “Here Lies Love”, Evan Alexander Smith known for “Back To The Future: The Musical” and Ryan Spahn from “Zero Day”.
As a passionate cinephile, I’m thrilled to share that the captivating series we’re discussing was masterfully conceived by Dave Wiskus, the brilliant mind behind Nebula. He will grace us with his expertise as an executive producer, working in tandem with the accomplished Dan Jinks, who has won an Oscar for his exceptional work on movies like “American Beauty,” “Big Fish,” and “Pushing Daisies.
Wiskus expressed that it’s been delightful to find out how much the Broadway community’s character aligns with ours. Benton and Micah have been instrumental in connecting us, and they’ve done an impressive job of making us realize that our inner selves are like young theater enthusiasts.”
Or:
“Wiskus commented on enjoying the discovery that the Broadway community shares many similarities with ours. Benton and Micah have been key in bridging this gap, and they’ve done a fantastic job of helping us recognize that our inner spirits resemble those of theater kids.
As a movie aficionado, I was fortunate to be selected for the role in “Sub/liminal” by casting gurus Benton Whitley CSA and Micah Johnson-Levy CSA from Whitley Theatrical. They were the ones who spotted my potential and gave me this incredible opportunity.
