In Season 2 of “Nine Perfect Strangers,” an unaware group of newcomers are arriving. The first season of this Hulu anthology series, inspired by Liane Moriarty’s book, focused on Masha Dmitrichenko (played by Nicole Kidman), who guided nine guests through a transformative “healing process” at her wellness retreat.

As a movie aficionado, I’m thrilled about Season 2! Nine fresh faces with hidden pasts are joining the scene, but one familiar figure is back – the wise and enigmatic Masha, played by none other than the talented Nicole Kidman.

For Season 2, the plot goes like this: Nine individuals, complete strangers to each other, receive an invitation from enigmatic guru Masha Dmitrichenko to attend a life-changing retreat in the Austrian Alps. Throughout the week, she pushes them to their limits. Will they survive? Can Masha herself withstand it? Masha is ready to experiment with unconventional methods for the sake of healing everyone present, including herself.

For the second season, we have some fresh faces joining our cast: Henry Golding, Lena Olin, Annie Murphy, Christine Baranski, Lucas Englander, King Princess, Murray Bartlett, Dolly de Leon, Maisie Richardson-Sellers, Mark Strong and Aras Aydin.

Here’s a guide to who’s who in the new season of “Nine Perfect Strangers.”

    Masha Dmitrichenko (Nicole Kidman)

In the upcoming season, Academy Award-winning actress Nicole Kidman reprises her mysterious and shrewd character, Masha Dmitrichenko, from “The Hours.” Set in the Austrian Alps, she invites nine fresh individuals for a wellness retreat, pushing them to their limits. Previously, Masha served as a spiritual mentor to the guests, but as the first season unfolds, her hidden secrets and motives come to light. Following the shocking events of Season 1, Masha is grappling with the loss of her daughter and dealing with its aftermath.

    Imogen (Annie Murphy)

Actress Murphy, famed for her roles in ‘Schitt’s Creek,’ will join the cast as a new arrival this season on ‘Nine Perfect Strangers.’ Known for her Emmy-nominated performances alongside Dan Levy, Eugene Levy, and Catherine O’Hara, Murphy has graced various television series over time, including ‘Russian Doll,’ ‘Kevin Can Fk Himself,’ and ‘Murderville.’

    Brian (Murray Bartlett)

As a passionate film aficionado, I’m thrilled to share that I, [Your Name], will be stepping into the shoes of Brian in an upcoming project. Fresh off my roles in “Opus” with Ayo Edebiri and the gripping queer thriller “Ponyboi,” I’ve been keeping busy.

Recently, I’ve received recognition for my work. I was nominated for an Emmy for my performance in Season 1 of HBO’s “The White Lotus.” Moreover, I was lauded for my poignant guest appearance in Episode 3 of “The Last of Us,” where I had the privilege of sharing the screen with the talented Nick Offerman.

I’m eager to see what the future holds and how this new role will shape my journey as an actor.

    Victoria (Christine Baranski)

In her first appearance on “Nine Perfect Strangers,” the multiple Emmy and Tony-winning actress, Baranski, takes on the role of Victoria, one of the nine unassuming guests. Throughout her career in both film and television, Baranski has graced many musical productions such as “Chicago,” “Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again,” and “Into the Woods.” More recently, she was seen alongside Carrie Coon in Season 2 of HBO’s “The Gilded Age.

    Peter (Henry Golding)

Golding, the star from “Crazy Rich Asians,” has been cast as Peter after his recent appearance in “Another Simple Favor.” Since his debut as Nick Young, Golding has taken on diverse roles in a blend of action and romance movies such as “Last Christmas,” “The Gentlemen,” “Persuasion,” and “The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare.” He will also feature in the sequel to “The Old Guard” in the future.

    David (Mark Strong)

The renowned British actor is heading to Austria for a reunion with Nicole Kidman on the set of “Before I Go to Sleep.” Throughout his career spanning several decades, Strong has made a name for himself through memorable performances in action/genre movies like “Kingsman: The Secret Service,” “Sherlock Holmes,” “Kick-Ass,” “Dune: Prophecy,” and more recently, “Shadow Force.

    Agnes (Dolly de Leon)

Agnes, a former nun, now mingles with other new arrivals at Masha’s ski resort in the Australian Alps, seeking healing and change. Previously recognized by a Golden Globe nomination for her acting in Ruben Östlund’s “Triangle of Sadness,” Agnes has also appeared in productions such as “Ghostlight,” “Between the Temples,” and the animated Filipino film “The Missing.” Additionally, she has starred in two Erik Matti series for HBO: the crime thriller “On the Job” and the horror anthology “Folklore.

    Wolfie (Maisie Richardson-Sellers)

Maisie Richardson-Sellers, who will portray Wolfie, is a fresh face joining Masha’s secluded sanctuary for the first time. Prior to embarking on “Nine Perfect Strangers,” Richardson-Sellers has been seen in various projects such as the Hulu movie “Jagged Mind,” the Netflix films “The Kissing Booth” series, and the Channel 4 miniseries “The Undeclared War.” In her past roles, she portrayed a transformed Rebekah Mikaelson on the CW’s vampire show “The Originals,” and appeared in multiple seasons of “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow” as both Vixen and Charlie.

    Tina (King Princess)

As a first-time movie critic, I find myself intrigued by the enigmatic character of Tina, skillfully portrayed by King Princess. In contrast to her fellow cast members, her past remains cloaked in secrecy. Much like them, she’s making her initial visit to Masha’s resort, seemingly oblivious to the tumultuous events that await her. It is Mikaela Mullaney Straus, popularly recognized as Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter King Princess, who brings Tina to life on the screen for the first time in “Nine Perfect Strangers.” Though her resume may be limited to television, she has previously lent her musical talents to the soundtrack of Netflix’s animated series “Arcane,” with her song “Fantastic” gracing Season 2.

    Helena (Lena Olin)

This season, renowned Swedish actress, Olin, appears alongside Nicole Kidman. With nominations for an Oscar (“Enemies, A Love Story”), a BAFTA (“Chocolat”) and a Golden Globe (“The Unbearable Lightness of Being”), she has collaborated with distinguished directors such as David Fincher, Lasse Hallström, and James Hawes.

    Martin (Lucas Englander)

The actor, hailing from England, will join the cast as Martin for Season 2. Recently, he has been seen in two episodes of “The Day of the Jackal,” alongside Eddie Redmayne, Lashana Lynch, and Eleanor Matsuura. Additionally, he starred in all 21 episodes of the French series “Parlement” from 2020 to 2023.

The first two episodes of “Nine Perfect Strangers” Season 2 premiere on Hulu May 21.
