Back in 2022, Sony introduced the PlayStation Stars rewards system, allowing dedicated gamers to accumulate digital trinkets. As of now, approximately three years on, Sony has communicated their intention to shut down the PlayStation Stars initiative soon.
Sony commended PlayStation Stars for creating a stronger bond with global gamers, but after reviewing the program, they chose to discontinue it. At present, PlayStation Stars is not enrolling new participants. Those who terminate their membership will not be allowed to re-activate it in the future.
The end of the PlayStation Stars program won’t happen instantly. Until July 23 at 7:59 AM PT / 10:59 AM ET / 3:59 PM BST, members can continue to advance their PlayStation Stars status and gather more digital collectibles. However, no new rewards or campaigns will be offered after this date. Players can still redeem their PlayStation Stars rewards until November 2, 2026. Sony also confirmed that players will continue to access their digital collectibles even after the changes are implemented.
During the entire announcement, Sony mentions “the current version” of PlayStation Stars, stating they will assess the significant insights gathered from this initiative and consider various options to enhance their loyalty program in the long run. Furthermore, Sony expresses gratitude towards all the players who took part in PlayStation Stars.
