Dhanush Wows Fans Casting as A.P.J. Abdul Kalam in Epic Biopic

The award-winning actor Dhanush from India has been chosen to play the role of the respected former Indian president and aerospace scientist Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam in a biographical film called “Kalam: The Indian Missile Man.” This movie was introduced at the Cannes Film Market.

The upcoming project is to be led by director Om Raut, famous for his acclaimed work “Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior,” and written by Saiwyn Quadras, known for writing “Neerja” and “Maidaan.”

The movie will follow the incredible journey of APJ Abdul Kalam, highlighting his transformation from modest beginnings to becoming known as India’s “Missile Man” and later, our 11th President. This biographical film is inspired by Kalam’s popular autobiography, “Wings of Fire.

The movie unites movie producer Abhishek Agarwal from Abhishek Agarwal Arts, known for the contentious hit “The Kashmir Files,” and Bhushan Kumar of T-Series, making it their third joint project together.

Producers praised Dhanush’s casting, stating it was a transformative and significant moment in his career. Known for his vast acting abilities and deep emotional range, Dhanush is now tasked with bringing to life one of India’s cherished visionaries on screen.

Raut characterized the movie as extending beyond a political biography, instead framing it as “a revealing look at leadership and nation-building.” It will delve into “the individual behind the missile programs and the presidency – the poet, the educator, the visionary whose words embodied equal parts science and spirituality.

The film is produced by Abhishek Agarwal, Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, and Anil Sunkara.
