The Last Of Us Season 3 Is All About Abby

The second season of “The Last of Us” concludes this Sunday, May 25, and there is already talk about a third season. In fact, the creators are hoping for a fourth! Kaitlyn Dever’s character, Abby, made her debut at the start of Season 2, but since some significant events occurred, she has taken a back seat. Fans who want more Abby will be pleased to know that they will see more of her in Season 3.

In a conversation with Variety, Catherine O’Hara (Gail on The Last of Us) hinted that Season 3 will predominantly focus on Abby’s story. This alignment is reasonable since the show is based on the events from The Last of Us Part II, where Ellie sets out to find and confront Abby.

In Season 3, Gail won’t make an appearance. Showrunner Craig Mazin told her that Gail is definitely not part of the upcoming season, but there’s a possibility she could return down the line. Actress Merle O’Hara speculates that the writers created her character primarily to support Joel and Ellie in Season 2, and now that plotline has concluded.

It appears that Season 2 will end with a suspenseful cliffhanger, intended to keep viewers engaged and eagerly anticipating Season 3. As Mazin stated, “We aim to make them curious enough to want to join us again when we resume for the next season.

Mazin hinted that there’s a good possibility Season 3 could be longer than Season 2, mainly due to the unique nature of the storyline and the distinct opportunities it presents for the creators.
