‘Caught Stealing’ Trailer: Austin Butler and Zoë Kravitz Star in Darren Aronofsky’s New York Crime Film

In my perspective, the trailer for Sony’s “Caught Stealing” movie finds me, Austin Butler, treading the treacherous underbelly of New York City’s crime-ridden world, as directed by the visionary Darren Aronofsky.

Hank Thompson, previously a baseball player, is portrayed by Butler in this storyline. In the gritty underworld of ’90s New York City’s criminal scene, he unwittingly becomes entangled in a perilous fight for survival. Navigating through a treacherous underworld that was unfamiliar to him, he faces challenges beyond his wildest imaginations. Alongside Butler, the cast includes Bad Bunny, Matt Smith, Regina King, Vincent D’Onofrio, Action Bronson, Liev Schreiber and Griffin Dunne. In the role of Butler’s romantic interest is Zoë Kravitz.

The movie is penned by Charlie Huston, based on his book series. I’m thrilled about collaborating with my long-time associates at Sony Pictures to materialize Charlie’s heart-pounding roller coaster journey. I can hardly wait to dive into working with Austin and my crew of NYC filmmakers, Aronofsky shared earlier.

In his latest work, Aronofsky released “The Whale” in 2022. Previously, he directed movies like “Mother!” from 2017, “Black Swan” in 2010, and “Requiem for a Dream” back in 2000.

In a prior statement, Sanford Panitch, president of Sony Pictures’ Motion Picture Group, expressed his excitement about the prospect of collaborating on the adaptation of Charlie Huston’s remarkable books, given Darren’s exceptional skills as an audiovisual storyteller, and chose not to pass up this fantastic opportunity.

More recently, Butler has been seen in the miniseries “Masters of the Air” and Denis Villeneuve’s Oscar-winning film “Dune: Part Two.” On the other hand, Kravitz has taken on the role of director for the movie “Blink Twice.

“Caught Stealing” will release in theaters Aug. 29. Watch the trailer below.
