Issue #14 of “The Spectacular Spider-Men” was written by Greg Weisman, illustrated by Andrés Genolet, colored by Edgar Delgado, and lettered by Joe Caramagna. This installment brings the series to an impressive conclusion.
Who are the Spider-Men looking for?
In the comic book “Strange Love”, one of the main conflicts revolves around a new superhero named Elementary. At the beginning of the storyline, Arcade, a scientist, conducted experiments on college students using Mentallo’s telepathic abilities to discover their deepest desires. A timid student named Juliet desired to be with a girl she had a crush on named Anna, so in this artificial reality, they were dating. After everyone was supposedly rescued, Juliet returned to Anna without even recognizing her. However, as time went by, Juliet and Anna developed a friendship, around the same period when Juliet found out that she possessed superpowers.
Miles, Peter, and their superhero companions started teaching Juliet, who possessed elemental abilities (control over wind, fire, water, and earth). However, it became apparent that Juliet wasn’t the most attentive student, often prioritizing her relationship with Anna, a character who was in a relationship with Rickie. Unfortunately, Juliet’s excessive confidence in her powers was shattered when the two Electros (the main antagonists of this story arc) discovered a method to neutralize her abilities and eliminate her from the fight. Unintentionally, Anna was electrocuted while trying to assist Juliet. After recovering, Rickie scolded Juliet severely, claiming that her carelessness had led to Anna’s death.
Juliet remains unaware that Anna is still alive, which means she is currently considered missing. This has everyone on edge, wondering if Anna might harm herself or others. Since no one knows where she is, they are all working together to find her. In order to aid in this search, the Spider-Men enlist the help of their fellow superheroes, including those who assisted Elementary in honing her powers.
