Are you excited for the upcoming sequel to “Zootopia”? Released in 2016, this Disney blockbuster raked in over a billion dollars at the global box office. Given its success, it’s no wonder it’s becoming a franchise. However, it’s been almost ten years since its initial release, with only a season of a Disney+ series (called Zootopia+) airing in 2022, which didn’t star the main characters from the original movie. Fans are eagerly waiting for the return of Nick and Judy! Here’s what we currently know about our next journey to Zootopia.

On May 20th, the initial trailer for “Zootopia 2” was released, serving as a refresher about the dynamic duo Nick Wilde (Jason Bateman) and Judy Hopps (Ginnifer Goodwin). This new instalment also introduces us to a fresh character, Gary De’Snake (Ke Huy Quan). In this silent teaser, Nick and Judy are seen chasing after a reptile while being pursued by uniformed hippos. The duo eventually confronts a mysterious villain, whose identity is concealed except for their glowing, yellow eyes under a hood.
Who else is in the cast?
With Goodwin, Bateman, and the fresh addition of Quan, Zootopia is teeming with a variety of other creatures – both large and small. Notably, Shakira will reprise her role as the popular pop star Gazelle, and if we’re lucky enough to get another hit like “Try Everything,” this entire endeavor promises to be a resounding success. Joining Shakira are Quinta Brunson, who lends her voice to Dr. Fuzzby, a therapist quokka, and Fortune Feimster, providing the voice for Nibbles, a beaver character.
When’s the release date?
The sequel to Zootopia is set to release on November 26, 2025, which is commonly recognized as Thanksgiving weekend. Be prepared for a potential challenge convincing your niece to consume a turkey, given that the film might feature a whole flock of them! Good luck!
