It’s been confirmed that the creator of Stellar Blade has plans for a follow-up to their hit third-person action game. Expected to launch on PlayStation 5 in 2024, Stellar Blade saw immense success, leading its creators at Shift Up to discreetly reveal that they’re already developing a sequel.

There’s no denying that Stellar Blade was an enormous success. It managed to sell over a million copies within its first two months, even though it was exclusively released for PS5 at launch. This made it Shift Up’s most successful game. Following the launch, Shift Up went on to have a prosperous Initial Public Offering, during which they secured approximately $320 million from investors.

It’s been hinted that there’s a new installment of the beloved action game on the horizon, possibly as early as 2026. Based on information from a company presentation (via Insider Gaming), it appears that the studio is working on multiple projects, including an expansion for their platform and a sequel to Stellar Blade, both slated for release before 2027. Additionally, the previously announced action title known as “Project Witches” is also part of these plans. So, while things might shift, it seems that we could see Stellar Blade 2 within the next few years.

It’s currently unclear what exactly “platform expansion” for Stellar Blade might involve, but it could potentially include a launch for Xbox Series X/S or Nintendo Switch 2. However, an Xbox release remains questionable given that the game was published by Sony. Lately, there have been some difficulties with Stellar Blade on PC prior to its platform release, as the game unexpectedly became unavailable in various countries.
