A Universal Guest Said They Experienced ‘Intense’ Wait For New Harry Potter Ride, And Fans Are Asking All The Germane Questions

This week marks the public opening of Universal Orlando Resort’s Epic Universe, and after years of anticipation, fans are clearly thrilled. However, with this excitement comes the potential for large crowds and extended wait times for attractions – something nobody enjoys. Already, it seems that long lines have begun to form, a claim backed by a social media post from one of the guests.

Now that this part of the Universal Park is open for sneak peeks by guests, it’s possible to experience Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry – an attraction I believe outshines all others in the Epic Universe. However, there’s been a change from a virtual queue system to a conventional waiting line, which has inevitably resulted in long queues. Interestingly, a five-hour wait wasn’t something many predicted. User @bioreconstruct posted this surprising fact on social media.

Bioreconstruct recently provided aerial coverage of Epic Universe’s progress, but this particular day, they were on the ground and spent more than five hours queuing up. They did this to confirm that the reported 300-minute wait time wasn’t an exaggeration. In reality, the queue moved slower, making the wait time a slight underestimation. Bio reported…

5:10 this morning is when we’ll ride today. From the moment the world’s door opens for rope drop to the guests who are already lined up. We’ll wind our way through the streets, passing by Le Cirque Arcanus’s indoor/outdoor queue, then the Floo queue, and finally, the courtroom queue with the elf included.

It appears that the initial performance of Le Cirque Arcanus has been called off for today, as the venue was needed to accommodate the excess queue for Battle at the Ministry. Waiting five hours in line for just one ride seems quite extraordinary. That’s nearly half the time Epic Universe is currently open right now.

Since I had the chance to check out Epic Universe and believe that Battle at the Ministry is its finest attraction, I can understand why folks are ready to endure such a lengthy queue. However, I must admit that I wouldn’t personally have the patience for it myself.

Furthermore, several visitors noted that if such issues occur during previews, which we assume are not peak times, then what can be expected when the official opening day arrives later this week? Many spectators were left wondering…

  • 5 hours? Imagine full blown opening day crowds. – @ShadowDragons77
  • I’m scared for opening day..this is insane – @sillycatsrappin
  • Is the closing time (8pm tomorrow) the time the queue lines are closed? Even with a 2hrs+ queue?Do you think the single rider line is also at least 2 hours? – @KingRCT3
  • Are there bathrooms in line? Cuz if not… this is a problem. – @StayYoungTravel

300-minute waits are quite common in the world of theme parks, especially at Disney World where some of their longest lines reach that duration, such as Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry. However, it’s been rare to see attractions with such long wait times recently due to the implementation of virtual queue systems in newer rides, which significantly reduces the actual time spent waiting in line.

To enhance guest satisfaction, Epic Universe is now considering offering the virtual queue more consistently, as they have tried both virtual and standby queues for their popular attractions. This way, they can make an informed decision on how best to manage the anticipated high demand.
