Brian

The first-time directing effort of Will Ropp, the film “Brian,” a humorous teenager growing-up story co-produced by Seth Meyers, has completed filming in Oklahoma.

As a follower, I find myself immersed in the comedic series “Brian,” penned by Mike Scollins from “Late Night with Seth Meyers.” In this show, I play the role of an energetic, clumsy high school student named Ben Wang. My character is not just any ordinary student; he’s got a sharp wit and a knack for finding himself in awkward situations. The plot revolves around my ambitious pursuit to run for class president, a move driven by my secret infatuation with one of my teachers.

Brian, with assistance from his counselor (portrayed by William H. Macy), and a fresh college student, endeavors to manage a political campaign all the while maintaining his psychological well-being.

“Brian” also stars Randall Park, Natalie Morales and Edi Patterson.

In a statement released on Monday, Ropp expressed that leading this project was deeply personal for him since he recognized his own battles with anxiety and self-discovery in the narrative. He aimed to portray Brian’s journey as a representation of the complex, sometimes chaotic process of growing up, finding one’s identity, and standing tall amidst an overwhelming world. This film, therefore, is not merely about a boy maturing; it’s also about the bravery required to accept and express who you truly are.

The movie ‘Brian’ is jointly executive-produced by Seth Meyers, Mike Shoemaker, and Jason Carden under the banner of Sethmaker Shoemeyers Productions, while Danielle Lauder takes charge as the executive producer for Act 4 Artists. On the other hand, Thomas Mahoney serves as a producer from Handsome Watson, Casey Hanley from Act 4 Artists, and Will Ropp from Endless Ropportunities. The production duties were entrusted to Rebellium Films and Purple Intuition.

Known primarily for his performance in “American Born Chinese,” Wang also has several other forthcoming projects. These include “Karate Kid: Legends,” set to release on May 30, “The Long Walk,” and his newly confirmed role as Wyatt Calllow in “The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping.

William H. Macy is represented by Atlas Artists and Independent Artist Group.

Ben Wang is managed by Artists First and Stewart Talent, with Randall Park being handled by Artists First, UTA, and Myman Greenspan Fox. Natalie Morales is signed with Creative Artists Agency (CAA) and Bleeker Street Entertainment, while Edi Patterson is under the management of CAA. Will Ropp is represented by Gersh, Entertainment 360, and J.R. McGinnis.
