Chicago Fire Season 13 Finale May Confirm a Major Character Exit

Fans of “Chicago Fire” might have to bid adieu to Darren Ritter, Sam Carver, and potentially another significant character as the series 13 finale approaches. Throughout its 13 seasons, this NBC firefighter drama has been no stranger to cast departures. From Leslie Shay’s heartbreaking demise in season 3 to Chief Boden’s promotion to Deputy Fire Commissioner of Chicago Fire Department in season 12, Firehouse 51 has had its fair share of emotional goodbyes. By the end of season 13, Ritter, Carver, and possibly another may join this list of departed characters.

Just over a month before the airing of the final episode of Chicago Fire’s thirteenth season, it was disclosed that both Ritter and Carver are departing the show. This revelation took numerous viewers by surprise since the episodes thus far haven’t hinted at these key characters leaving the series. However, as the credits roll on the season finale, Ritter and Carver will no longer be part of the cast. It’s regrettable to mention that another firefighter might also be departing the show along with them.

Chicago Fire Season 13, Episode 21 Sets Up Dom Pascal’s Downfall

Pascal Is Being Accused Of Attempted Murder

The prospects seem bleak for Dermot Mulroney’s character, Chief Dom Pascal, on Chicago Fire season 13. As you might remember, Pascal’s wife, Monica, met a tragic end in episode 15 following a car crash. This incident plunged him into despair, seeking justice for the man responsible, Robert Franklin, who was allegedly at fault in the accident. Regrettably, no charges were ever brought against him. Jumping ahead to episode 21: Firehouse 51 is called to another car crash scene, and this time, it appears that Robert wasn’t merely unlucky – it wasn’t an accident.

In the ongoing investigation by OFI, Kelly Severide uncovers evidence that Robert’s fuel line was deliberately severed, suggesting an attempt on his life. Due to Pascal’s relationship with the victim, he quickly becomes a person of interest. Matters worsen when Captain Tom Van Meter locates a tool from the Chicago Fire Department inside Robert’s car. Regrettably for Pascal, he lacks a solid alibi for the night of the accident. By the end of Chicago Fire season 13, episode 21, the police apprehend Pascal, placing him under custody.

Pascal Is Innocent, But Monica’s Death & Fallout From It Could Lead To Him Leaving

Dermot Mulroney’s Character Might Want To Start Anew (Again)

From the flashback in the second-to-last episode of Chicago Fire‘s thirteenth season, it’s evident that Pascal is not guilty as charged. Yet, a positive resolution for his story may not be forthcoming. In episode 21, we discover that Pascal departed Miami because he was investigating Hendricks, a man connected to the mob. This suggests that the mob could be setting up Pascal as retaliation for what occurred in Miami, and given this fresh predicament, it appears that more troubles lie ahead for him.

It’s possible that the aftermath of Robert Franklin’s accident (leading to his wife’s demise) might persuade Pascal to relocate to a new city for a fresh start. Alternatively, the plot could take a dramatic turn in Chicago Fire season 13’s finale, with Pascal meeting an untimely end. In any event, the storyline of the NBC procedural drama series, Chicago Fire, might see Pascal departing unexpectedly during its last episode, thereby joining Ritter and Carver in their exit.

Pascal’s Possible Chicago Fire Season 13 Exit Paves The Way For Herrmann Becoming Chief

Herrmann Is Taking The Chief’s Exam

In the finale of Chicago Fire‘s season 13, Pascal’s departure aligns better with the ongoing storyline for Christopher Herrmann. Towards the end of season 12, Boden expressed his wish for Herrmann to succeed him at Firehouse 51. As the new season commenced, Pascal was appointed as the fire station’s chief instead of the usual character. Despite this, Herrmann continues on his path to becoming a chief and is preparing to take his final exam in episode 22.

If Herrmann aces the test and Pascal signs up for Chicago Fire’s season 13, it could lead to Herrmann being promoted as the chief if Pascal departs from Firehouse 51. Given recent events on the show, this scenario seems quite likely. However, fans will have to tune in for NBC’s Chicago Fire season 13 finale to find out what happens to Pascal’s character.
