Shondaland’s Scandal Is Returning to Netflix June 17!

Shonda Rhimes, throughout her career, has been responsible for creating and producing numerous legendary TV series. One of these productions is now set to be moved to a new location.

On their platform, it was declared that Scandal is returning to Netflix, with its release set for June 17th. This political drama originally aired from 2012 to 2018 and previously could be streamed on Hulu. Kerry Washington plays the lead role in the show, portraying a crisis manager who excels at resolving political dilemmas and scandals. The character is inspired by Judy Smith, who served as Deputy Press Secretary for George H.W. Bush, and also served as a producer on the series.

In the TV series “Scandal“, Olivia Pope, previously a media advisor to the president, is the go-to person for resolving scandals. However, following a secret romantic relationship with President Fitzgerald Grant (Tony Goldwyn) that betrayed his wife, Olivia finds herself in a heated situation. Over seven seasons, this show showcased several well-known actors such as Scott Foley, Viola Davis, Joe Morton, Jeff Perry, and many more.

As a devoted fan, I can confidently say that Scandal boasted an impressive ensemble featuring Darby Stanchfield, Katie Lowes, Guillermo Diaz, Columbus Short, and Bellamy Young, among others. This captivating show has garnered remarkable acclaim, earning a staggering 93% critics’ approval on Rotten Tomatoes, as well as 72% appreciation from viewers. Interestingly, the inaugural season holds the lowest critics’ rating at 87%, while the final season, unfortunately, received the lowest audience score of 40%.

The program was nominated for seven Emmys and took home two. One of these went to Joe Morton for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series, while Dan Bucatinsky received the other nomination for the same category. Before the final episode, Kerry Washington reprised her role as Olivia Pope on another Shondaland series titled “How to Get Away With Murder” during Season 4, which premiered in 2018.

Kerry Washington Has Another Project Heading To Netflix

Despite Olivia Pope being her most iconic character, Emmy-nominated actress Kerry Washington has enjoyed many thriving roles since Scandal ended in 2018. She’s currently garnering praise on Netflix with a new project, and is set to appear in another highly anticipated production called , the third addition to the Knives Out mystery series.

The Rian Johnson movie is packed with famous faces, similar to its preceding parts, boasting an impressive ensemble cast that welcomes back Daniel Craig as Detective Benoit Blanc. Among the other stars gracing the screen are Josh O’Connor from The Challenger, Glenn Close, Josh Brolin, Jeremy Renner, Mila Kunis, Andrew Scott, Cailee Spaeny, Daryl McCormack, and Thomas Haden Church. Craig and Johnson have also expressed their intent to return for more before its Netflix debut in the fall of 2025.

Scandal is moving back to Netflix on June 17.
