Despite facing criticism for churning out numerous typical dramas, reality shows, and overly commercial films, Netflix occasionally ventures into uncharted territory with more obscure and art-focused content like the sci-fi anthology series Love, Death & Robots. This risk has proven to be a smart move as it’s become one of the streamer’s most highly praised shows. The series, developed by Tim Miller, just released its fourth season on May 15 and, once again, it’s been met with great success.
At this moment, Love, Death & Robots is ranking as the 7th most-watched series on Netflix this week. The American Manhunt: Osama bin Laden still reigns supreme in the top position, while Secrets We Keep takes second place. Remarkably, a lesser-known animated science-fiction anthology like Love, Death & Robots is holding its ground against more mainstream shows. Furthermore, the series’ fourth season has kept up with this pattern of receiving outstanding reviews. On Rotten Tomatoes, it currently boasts an overall score of 89%, and Season 4 has significantly improved upon that by garnering a perfect 100% score on RT. MovieWeb’s Julian Roman gave the new season a 4/5 rating, praising it in his review:
The award-winning show consistently delivers with its impressive ingenuity, dark wit, and authentic twists that demonstrate its growth. While not every episode shines brilliantly, there’s not a single disappointing one among them.
Love, Death & Robots
In 2019, Tim Miller initially launched his production, which later expanded to include four seasons, on Prime Video under the title “Secret Level“. This series offered standalone tales, either set in the same universe or drawing inspiration from popular video games and some fresh game releases.
What’s Included In ‘Love, Death & Robots’ Season 4
Fans adore Love, Death & Robots because each season presents a fresh, unique twist. Previous seasons have showcased tales like Soviet soldiers battling aliens, an artist motivated by a pool-cleaning robot, a murderous crab on a sailing ship, and three robots exploring a post-apocalyptic Earth. Season 4 takes the strangeness, humor, and even features an unanticipated musical guest appearance.
As viewers tuned into the premiere of Love, Death & Robots Season 4, they might have been caught off guard by an unexpected treat: the Red Hot Chili Peppers. The opening episode showcases a live concert reenactment using marionette puppets, but if you found that peculiar, just wait – this season delves even deeper into the strange. Cats launch counterattacks against humans, minute-sized aliens invade our planet, and we’re presented with a somber documentary featuring household appliances discussing their daily routines.
In contrast to its usual approach, Season 4 of the show Love, Death & Robots features sequels. Typically, this anthology series avoided repetition. However, in this season, three robots reappear for another exciting tale, and the miniature Earth returns unexpectedly, causing catastrophic effects on our solar system.
Up to now, there’s no official news about Season 5 for “Love, Death & Robots” on Netflix, but considering the excellent feedback and impressive viewership during the fourth season, it appears highly likely that the show will continue.
