As a devoted fan, I can’t help but express my excitement as we approach the beginning of Marvel Cinematic Universe’s (MCU) sixth phase. In this new era, the MCU is poised to break a staggering record that many might have deemed unreachable. Currently, we’re wrapping up the fifth phase with “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” set to launch Phase 6, preceding the highly anticipated “Avengers: Doomsday.” This journey promises to be nothing short of extraordinary!

In a unique twist, the opening production of Phase 6, titled “The Fantastic Four: First Steps“, is set to hit theaters mere weeks after the conclusion of Phase 5’s series, “Ironheart“, which will stream its premiere on Disney+. This brief interval between Phases 5 and 6 will shatter the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) record for the shortest duration between the termination of one phase and the initiation of another in the series, marking a significant milestone.

On June 25, 2025, Ironheart officially hits the screens, and The Fantastic Four: First Steps follows suit 31 days later, on July 26, 2025. Previously, the shortest gap between two film releases in this series was 84 days.

As a dedicated cinephile, I can’t help but point out an intriguing detail: The premiere of “Ironheart” and “The Fantastic Four” are separated by just 31 days in the calendar. By the time the final episode of “Ironheart” graces our screens on Disney+, that gap will have shrunk even further!

The exact airing schedule for Ironheart isn’t set in stone as of now, but it’s been announced that there will be a three-episode debut. If each subsequent episode follows a weekly release pattern after this initial debut, the final episode would air on July 15, 2025. Remarkably, this date is just ten days before the planned release of The Fantastic Four.

In essence, if that event transpires, Phase 5 would conclude about 10 days prior to the start of Phase 6. This marks the second Marvel Cinematic Universe record for Ironheart, although the previous one was less fortunate.

Following several years of development, the release date for “Ironheart” has officially been announced. However, a trailer for “Ironheart” received negative feedback shortly after its debut. The upcoming film will feature Dominique Thorne reprising her role as Riri Williams, who was previously introduced in “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever”.

How Long Were Gaps Between Previous MCU Phases?

Previously, the shortest time span between two phases in the Marvel Cinematic Universe was 84 days. However, this record was broken by the gap between Phases 5 and 6. This 84-day gap occurred after the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, which concluded Phase 4, and before the start of Phase 5 with the film Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania>.

The time spans between the other transitions from one phase to another were noticeably larger than these two intervals. To put it into perspective, there was a gap of approximately one year – 364 days precisely – between the conclusion of Phase 1 and the commencement of Phase 2. Specifically, ‘The Avengers’ wrapped up Phase 1 on May 4, 2012, while we had to wait until May 3, 2013, for ‘Iron Man 3’ to kick off Phase 2.

The second phase concluded on July 17, 2015 marking the debut of “Avengers: Age of Ultron”. Approximately nine months later, on April 27, 2016, phase 3 commenced with the premiere of “Captain America: Civil War”.

Between Phases 3 and 4, there was an extended break of approximately two years, making it the longest stretch between any pair of phases. “Spider-Man: Far From Home” concluded Phase 3 on July 2, 2019, while Phase 4 didn’t start until the premiere of “WandaVision,” Marvel’s first Disney+ series, on January 15, 2021.
