‘Final Destination Bloodlines’ Surpasses $100 Million Globally in Opening Weekend

The film titled ‘Final Destination Bloodlines‘ raked in an impressive sum of $51 million during its first release on the global stage, spooking audiences across 74 different countries.

In a fantastic start, the R-rated horror movie produced by Warner Bros. and New Line earned an additional $51 million domestically, bringing its total to $102 million worldwide. The strong positive response from audiences and critical acclaim has made “Final Destination” achieve the best opening weekend in the series’ six-film history, surpassing the debut of the first film released in 2000. With this momentum, it’s expected that the latest installment will eventually overtake the global gross of 2011’s “The Final Destination” ($186 million) and become the highest-grossing movie in the series.

Under the guidance of directors Adam Stein and Zach Lipovsky, the film “Final Destination Bloodlines” follows the tradition of portraying a series of increasingly bizarre and gruesome deaths. The story revolves around a family who mysteriously begin to succumb to fatal accidents, as it was fated that their matriarch should not have survived a catastrophic incident 50 years prior. The film has garnered significant success in various international markets, with Mexico, the United Kingdom, the Philippines, India, and France contributing $5.5 million, $5.3 million, $3.4 million, $3 million, and $3 million respectively to its global earnings.

After a challenging conclusion to 2024 and a sluggish start in 2025 with releases like “Joker: Folie à Deux,” Mickey 17″, and “The Alto Knights,” Warner Bros. Pictures is now seeing a turnaround in its box office performance. The latest film, “Final Destination Bloodlines,” which had a production budget of $50 million, marks the studio’s third consecutive success after the April blockbusters “A Minecraft Movie” and “Sinners.”

In its seventh week in theaters, “Minecraft” is still attracting large audiences, earning an additional $8.3 million. This PG-rated film adaptation of the video game has grossed $501 million overseas and a total of $928 million worldwide so far, making it the highest-grossing movie of the year in Hollywood. Simultaneously, “Sinners” took in $3.8 million internationally this past weekend, raising its foreign earnings to $76 million and a remarkable global total of $316 million.

Globally, in its third week, Disney Marvel’s blockbuster “Thunderbolts” earned an additional $15.7 million from 52 different markets. This superhero sequel has garnered a staggering $170 million overseas and a total of $325.7 million worldwide. However, I find myself in a challenging position as “Thunderbolts,” despite its fantastic reviews and top-five ranking among this year’s films, might struggle to make a theatrical profit. The reason being that the production cost a hefty $180 million, followed by around $100 million for marketing. As a result, cinemas keep approximately half of ticket sale revenues, which could potentially limit the movie’s ability to turn a substantial profit.

Prior to its debut in North America, Sony’s “Karate Kid: Legends” earned $4 million when screened in selected Latin American regions. The upcoming sequel, starring original actor Ralph Macchio and newcomer Ben Wang, has made a total of $11.5 million across 12 markets so far.

The movie titled “Karate Kid: Legends” is set to premiere on May 30 in the U.S., as well as in 31 significant countries worldwide, including the U.K. and Germany. Taking place three years after the events of “Cobra Kai,” a spin-off series within the martial arts saga, this film follows a new pupil (Wang) who is taken under the wing of Daniel LaRusso (Macchio) and Mr. Han (Jackie Chan, introduced in the 2010 “Karate Kid” reboot). The student is now learning karate from these two legendary figures.
