Cannes 2025 Highlights: ‘Mission: Impossible’ Stars, Fashion Rules and More

The Cannes Film Festival is currently in full swing, with many renowned actors gracing La Croisette in their finest attire.

At Cannes, the stars of “Mission: Impossible“, including Angela Bassett, Pom Klementieff, Hannah Waddingham, and Hayley Atwell, were snapped by EbMaster. Alongside them, the cast of “Sirat”, the creative minds behind “The Plague”, and actors and authors from “A Pale View Of Hills” also dropped by the studio.

This year’s festival has implemented strict guidelines for celebrity attire on the red carpet, with a focus on modest fashion. Specifically, nudity and overly large outfits are now prohibited.

As a cinema enthusiast, I’ve noticed this year, the Cannes Film Festival has officially outlined some guidelines that have been unspoken for quite some time. These rules aren’t about dictating fashion, but rather, they aim to prevent full nudity on the red carpet. This decision aligns with the event’s institutional norms and adheres to French law.

Furthermore, the festival maintains the authority to restrict entry for people whose clothing might impede the navigation of other attendees or create difficulties with seating in the cinema areas.

According to fashion historian Nancy Deihl, she believes that contemporary styles were the inspiration behind this choice, as she shared with WWD, EbMaster’s sister publication.

For years at Cannes, actresses have been known to don stylish outfits with a hint of sexiness, but these choices always follow fashion’s guidelines,” she noted. “It seems that the organizers at Cannes are determined to distinguish this event from other celebrity-centric spectacles, and their focus on modesty might come off as somewhat authoritative, even though many runway shows exhibit similar or more revealing attire.
