At the premiere of “My Mom Jayne,” a HBO documentary about her mother, during the Cannes Film Festival on Saturday, Mariska Hargitay held back tears as she was given a four-minute standing ovation.

The movie serves as Mariska Hargitay’s initial directorial effort in a full-length film, and it delves into the story and heritage of Jayne Mansfield for the first time since her demise, which occurred approximately six decades ago. Furthermore, this is the first instance where Hargitay discloses the genuine facts about her parentage that were previously shrouded in rumors. It turns out that her biological father was an Italian singer named Nelson Sardelli, not Mickey Hargitay, the Hungarian bodybuilder who tied the knot with her mother as her second husband.

At the age of three, Mansfield tragically passed away in a car accident, alongside her brothers, with Hargarity being one of the passengers. After this incident, she was brought up by Mickey Hargarity.

Tonight, Hargarity expressed heartfelt emotions as he introduced a film, stating that it serves as a means for him to recall someone he never had the opportunity to meet or share his life journey with.

Marilyn Monroe-like figure, Mansfield gained popularity in the ’50s Tinseltown, gracing movies such as “Will Success Spoil Rock Hunter?”, “The Girl Can’t Help It”, “The Wayward Bus”, and “The Loves of Hercules”.
