Two-time Oscar nominee Hannes Holm’s comedy “Let It Rain” has been purchased for distribution in multiple regions: German-speaking territories by Leonine, Benelux and Singapore by September Film, the Czech Republic by Film Europe, the Former Yugoslavia by Blitz, Bulgaria by Beta Film, and Israel by Lev Cinemas.

In the story, Robert Gustafsson, Jonas Karlsson, and Karin Lithman appear, portraying the roles of a grouchy widower, whose life takes an unexpected turn when he becomes involved in an incident that might not only change his own destiny but also the fortunes of his entire village, and perhaps even the world. In 2015, the film “A Man Called Ove,” based on this tale, earned Holm two Academy Award nominations. This movie became a global box office sensation in 2016, generating over $30 million worldwide, and was later reprised as “A Man Called Otto” with Tom Hanks in the lead role. Besides “A Man Called Ove,” Holm is renowned for his successes in Swedish cinema, including “Adam & Eva” (1997), “Shit Happens” (2010), and the “Andersson Trilogy” (2012-2014), all of which broke box office records in Sweden.

The expansive drama titled “The Physician II” featuring Tom Payne (“Horizon,” “Prodigal Son”) as the talented healer Rob Cole, has already been pre-sold to countries such as Spain (Dea Planeta), Portugal (Outsider Pictures), Italy (Rai Cinema), Austria (ORF), Czech Republic and Slovakia (Bonton), Former Yugoslavia (Blitz), Poland (Monolith), as well as Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia (Paradise). In simpler terms, this means that the rights for showing this movie have already been purchased by various international film companies.

The much-anticipated follow-up to the global box office phenomenon “The Physician” delves into the early healing of the human spirit, unfolding against a dramatic backdrop of royal machinations in medieval Europe. Sharing the screen with Emily Cox (“The Last Kingdom: Seven Kings Must Die”), Aiden Gillen (“Game of Thrones,” “Maze Runner”), and Liam Cunningham (“Game of Thrones,” “Hunger”) are this production’s principal players.

In this politically charged drama, I find myself playing the role of Lars Eidinger or Nicolette Krebitz, parents of a contemporary Berlin family teetering on the edge. Amidst us lies a chasm of personal and ideological differences, as we struggle to adapt in a swiftly evolving world. I’m proud to be associated with Tom Tykwer, one of Germany’s most esteemed filmmakers. His impressive resume includes blockbusters like “Run Lola Run,” the epic collaboration “Cloud Atlas” starring Tom Hanks and Halle Berry, and the globally successful series “Babylon Berlin.
