Actress Riley Keough has signed up for the cast of “Out of This World,” a movie directed by Albert Serra, a renowned Spanish filmmaker whose 2022 production “Pacifiction” was showcased at Cannes and bagged two Cesar Awards. In this upcoming project, Keough will share screen time with F. Murray Abraham and Liza Yankovskaia, who is known for her role in “Frau.
In his first English-language film, “Out of This World” by Serra, we see an American group embarking on a journey to Russia during the heat of the Ukrainian conflict, aiming to resolve an economic disagreement. The story delves into the longstanding enmity between Russia and the United States. Although primarily filmed in English, there will be some Russian dialogues incorporated as well. Initially, Kristen Stewart was scheduled to play a role in this movie.
The film titled ‘Out of This World’ is being represented globally by Alice Lesort’s sales team at Losange Films, a subsidiary label to CG Cinema and Charles Gillibert’s independent sales and production company that focuses on auteur-driven projects. This feature, which is Serra’s eighth film, is jointly produced by Les Films du Losange, Idéale Audience Group, Andergraun Films, Felix Culpa, Rosa Filmes, and Forma Pro. Additionally, Les Films du Losange will distribute ‘Out of This World’ within France.
I’m thrilled to be part of the team experiencing Albert Serra’s debut in the English language – his first film! Known for his exceptional ingenuity, he’s a filmmaker whose past work showcases an impressive blend of power and unparalleled cinematic daring.
Lesort is deeply enthusiastic about the meeting with Riley Keough. She’s an actress with intense talent, able to bring intricate characters to life with remarkable accuracy. Her delicate touch adds profound depth to everything she works on.
Previously, Serra was the director for “Afternoons of Solitude,” a film that took home the Golden Shell at San Sebastian last year. Next up on the screen for Keough is her appearance in Karim Ainouz’s upcoming production titled “Rosebush Pruning.
Gillibert’s CG Cinema is showcasing three films at the Cannes Film Festival: Bi Gan’s “Resurrection” in competition, Kirill Serebrennikov’s “The Disappearance of Josef Mengele,” and Kristen Stewart’s “Chronology of Water,” all in Un Certain Regard. Later this year, CG Cinema will feature Alice Winocour’s “Coutures” with Angelina Jolie and Jim Jarmusch’s “Father, Mother, Sister, Brother” at fall festivals. Concurrently, Losange Films is handling the international distribution for four Cannes films, including “Resurrection,” “Chronology of Water,” Nadav Lapid’s “Yes,” and Tony Gatlif’s “Ange.
