The Next Entry In The Persona 5 Series, The Phantom X, Finally Has A Worldwide Release Date

Following its initial launch in South Korea, China, and Taiwan in April 2024, Persona 5: The Phantom X is now set for a global release. This spin-off of the popular series will be available on PC and mobile devices starting June 26, 2025. It promises to deliver more of the game’s signature turn-based combat, as well as an entirely new crew of Phantom Thieves to join you on your adventure.

In collaboration with Black Wing Games and Atlus’ P-Studio, Persona 5: The Phantom X is a mobile game that reintroduces players to the universe of Persona 5. This time, however, players assume the role of Wonder, a second-year student at Kokatsu Academy. A significant event occurs when Wonder encounters a peculiar owl-like entity named Lufel, which alters his perspective on life. Following some explanatory dialogue, the pair embarks on a journey to gather a fresh group of Phantom Thieves. Their objective is twofold: to reinstate the essence of human desire and thwart the enigmatic force that seeks to eliminate it entirely.

Subsequent events offer a dynamic, ongoing journey that combines live service aspects with the classic turn-based combat, social simulation, and time management elements characteristic of main Persona series games. Players will venture into newly discovered dungeons and sections of Mementos, engage in part-time jobs, participate in extracurricular clubs, enhance their Personas, boost Wonder’s social skills, build relationships, and unravel an original narrative. The game will feature cameos from beloved Persona characters such as Joker, Ann, Ryuji, and the entire Phantom Thieves crew through special agreements. Additionally, the Phantom X expansion brings fresh elements to the series, including challenges centered on PvE (Player vs Environment), mini-games, and the option to establish and join Guilds.

Following its launch in specific areas last year, the game has garnered significant acclaim for its compelling narrative and fresh set of characters. Many players have commented that these elements are remarkably similar to those in Persona 5. This could be due to the fact that key figures from the Persona series, such as producer Kazuhisa Wada, composer Ryota Kozuka, and artist Shigenori Soejima, were part of the game’s creation process.

Keep in mind that the new game shares characteristics with titles such as Genshin Impact and Wuthering Waves, featuring gacha elements. While it’s not necessary to spend money to play The Phantom X, players may find themselves enticed to do so, which could potentially hinder a complete gaming experience.

On June 26th, the global release of Persona 5: The Phantom X is set to take place, both on mobile devices and personal computers. To provide you with a more detailed glimpse at this upcoming game, we’ve provided some screenshots and a selection of its striking key art for your perusal.
