Contrary to popular belief, he’s not merely returning for a dose of nostalgia or financial gain; there’s another factor that has kept him with the show for two decades. Yet, he admitted that if his requirements were no longer met, he would have no qualms about departing from NCIS.

Murray expressed during an interview with Town&Country that if NCIS started to decline in quality or lose its appeal, he wouldn’t be keen on carrying on with the project, as he feels it would become monotonous.

I’m genuinely pleased with our continuous efforts to improve and create quality content. This sentiment is sincere – it’s not just empty praise. If we weren’t striving for better, I would lose enthusiasm for this work. It’s not just a job; it keeps me engaged and passionate, and I greatly appreciate the team I collaborate with.

Murray’s association with the NCIS series has been a prolonged one. Initially, he was slated for a guest role in the first season; however, events unfolded such that he became one of the longest-standing actors on the show. Currently, he intends to maintain his tenure on the show, expressing no intention of departure. He believes that despite the lapse of time and the transformations within television, they continue to thrive.
