As a movie enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that I, Rithy Panh, have been appointed as the head of the international competition jury for the upcoming 78th Locarno Film Festival in August. This is an incredible honor!

Due to his authoritative status, genuine passion for truth, flexible mindset, dedication, and versatility across contemporary filmmaking genres, we excitedly chose him as the president of the jury for the International Competition at the 78th Locarno Film Festival.

In 2022, Panh was awarded the Silver Berlin Bear for exceptional artistic achievement in the film “Everything Will Be OK”, and he also received the Berlinale documentary award in 2020 for “Irradiés”. He was nominated for a BAFTA for best non-English language film in 2018 with “First They Killed My Father”, and he won the Un Certain Regard Award at Cannes in 2013 for “The Missing Picture”.
In the past year, Panh’s latest movie titled “Meeting with Pol Pot” (2024) featuring Irène Jacob and Grégoire Colin, made its premiere at the Cannes Film Festival.
The 78th edition of the Locarno Film Festival takes place from Aug. 6-16.
