Mary Tyler Moore’s Iconic “M” and Dick Van Dyke Show Treasures Up for Auction!

Doyle Auctioneers and Appraisers are putting up for sale the Mary Tyler Moore Collection, which includes various artifacts and mementos stemming from “The Dick Van Dyke Show.

From May 16 to 20 at Doyle Beverly Hills, and from May 30 onwards at Doyle New York, leading up to a live auction on June 4, the collection will exhibit approximately 300 items of artwork, memorabilia, and decorative pieces that once adorned Frank Moore’s home in Greenwich, Connecticut.

The selection includes various items such as sketches by Al Hirschfeld depicting Moore’s characters in “The Mary Tyler Moore Show” and “The Dick Van Dyke Show,” an unworn ticket for the final episode of “The Mary Tyler Moore Show” titled “The Last Show,” a scarce Polaroid photograph by Annie Leibovitz featuring Moore and Van Dyke, the well-known “M” prop from Moore’s TV apartment, and portraits created by Peter Max and Everett Raymond Kinstler.

Over the course of her illustrious acting career, Moore garnered seven Primetime Emmy wins, three Golden Globes, a Tony award, and was Oscar-nominated for her role in “Ordinary People.” In “The Mary Tyler Moore Show,” she portrayed Mary Richards, a self-reliant working woman whose character became synonymous with female independence. The series also delved into topics such as divorce, LGBTQ+ rights, premarital sex, and infertility.

I’ve come across some fascinating pieces up for grabs at the gallery right now! If you’d like more details or want to explore the full range, be sure to check out the comprehensive auction catalog available on Doyle’s website.
