Sean Penn Says ‘I Would Work’ With Woody Allen Again in a ‘Heartbeat’: The Allegations Are ‘Told by People I Would Not Trust With a Dime’

In a recent conversation on “The Louis Theroux Podcast,” actor Sean Penn voiced his support for Woody Allen, whom he worked with in the 1999 film “Sweet and Lowdown.” Penn portrayed a jazz guitarist character who developed feelings for a speechless woman, played by Samantha Morton. This role earned him an Oscar nomination for best actor.

Penn praised the movie, expressing he’d be eager to collaborate with Allen, despite the accusations of sexual misconduct made against him by his adoptive daughter, Dylan Farrow.

Penn questioned whether he believed Allen had a negative reputation due to the accusations against him. He went on to say, ‘Regarding such matters… I don’t know anyone well enough to definitively state that something didn’t occur or hasn’t occurred. The thought of being mistaken and potentially harming a victim is concerning, isn’t it? I haven’t delved deeply into the details, but many of the stories come from individuals whom I find questionable. It appears that the accounts are predominantly skewed in this manner.’

When Louis Theroux pointed out that the accusations against Allen primarily stem from his adopted children, such as journalist Ronan Farrow, Penn countered by stating: “In my entire 80 years of life, I’ve never heard a clinical psychologist or psychiatrist suggest that pedophilia occurs only once in an individual’s lifetime. This is not a common viewpoint.

Penn added that discussing whether it’s right or wrong for him to have younger girlfriends isn’t the focus of this discussion. Instead, we should consider post-puberty consensual relationships as a separate topic.

In my opinion, it’s important to scrutinize any negative assumptions about him using unbiased facts, disregarding the impact of the #MeToo movement and those who gained from it. I’m simply suggesting we take a moment to reflect. Since he hasn’t been proven guilty, I consider him innocent. I would gladly collaborate with him without hesitation.

Since the renewed accusations of abuse by Dylan Farrow against Allen emerged in 2018, he hasn’t been employed in Hollywood. For a comprehensive discussion with him, check out his interview on “The Louis Theroux Podcast” here.
