Steam Deck Verified Program Expanding To Other Hardware Running SteamOS, Like Legion Go S

On Steam store pages for games, you’ll soon find a new compatibility rating. Valve has shared that SteamOS hardware beyond Steam Deck will display a distinct symbol, indicating that the game is playable on devices like the Lenovo Legion Go S to commence.

Valve explained how this fresh rating on Steam will impact games, mentioning that approximately 18,000 titles should initially work with SteamOS. The SteamOS compatibility ratings are derived from a specific portion of the Steam Deck’s testing results, designed to quickly indicate whether a game, along with all its required software, is compatible with SteamOS. This encompasses various aspects such as game functionality, launcher functionality, and anti-cheat support.

On the developer front, Valve asserts that they don’t need to put in any additional effort to make their games compatible with SteamOS. It seems that the compatibility verification might occur automatically, leveraging the process of Steam Deck verification. Moreover, Valve guarantees that the SteamOS compatibility results will either match or surpass those obtained from the Steam Deck verification process.

To date, the SteamOS platform has been represented by just one device, the Legion Go S handheld. Nevertheless, it’s evident that Valve intends to grow this segment and incorporate more devices down the line. Simultaneously, Microsoft is rumored to be partnering with Asus to launch an Xbox-branded ROG Ally 2, a collaboration that leaked recently.
