Gun Interactive, the creators of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, have shared that after a forthcoming update this month, no additional content or support will be provided for the game. However, they plan to release further updates aimed at transitioning the game towards peer-to-peer matchmaking. Rest assured, the game won’t be removed from digital storefronts.
This mirrors the commitment of the studio to ensure that The Texas Chain Saw Massacre won’t meet the same end as Friday the 13th: The Game, which ceased operation in 2023 after its licensing agreement expired.
Gun Interactive expresses that they believe “The Texas Chain Saw Massacre” has fully realized its potential as an asymmetrical multiplayer game and that they’ve been able to bring its future to fruition. This enables them to take the project towards its natural, intended creative conclusion.
Right from the start, our team has consistently pursued a crisp and focused vision for this game. Our aim was to innovate in the area of multiplayer asymmetrical horror, reintroduce the classic film’s essence to a fresh audience, and immerse players in the enchanting yet grotesque setting of Muerto County. We believe we have successfully accomplished these objectives.
Regarding future endeavors, Gun Interactive has yet to disclose their upcoming project, but they encourage fans to keep an eye out for updates.
Among various multiplayer games inspired by horror films, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre game distinguishes itself with a unique 4 versus 3 gameplay setup, where survivors must be vigilant for the menacing Leatherface and his bloodthirsty family wielding chainsaws. This game offers an accurate representation of the iconic slasher movie, even featuring Leatherface’s signature chainsaw. The game was warmly welcomed upon its release.
In his review for TopMob, Mark Delaney stated that “The Texas Chain Saw Massacre” is one of this year’s top-tier and expertly designed horror experiences, setting a new standard for multiplayer horror games. Although the game continues to be enjoyed by its dedicated fanbase, this isn’t the case for Evil Dead: The Game; after an initial release, it was withdrawn from digital marketplaces by publisher Boss Team Games.
