How to holster a gun in The Precinct

Following the release of The Precinct on PC, a message appears informing us that the game is optimized for controller play. Although I usually prefer using a mouse and keyboard, I opted to follow this suggestion and picked up my Xbox controller. However, I soon ran into trouble – figuring out how to stow away my weapon. Carrying a baton through town didn’t seem practical. I was shocked to find that there was no option to holster a gun in this game. As it turned out, my initial suspicion was correct. After some confusion, I eventually managed to figure it out.

  1. If you use Xbox gamepad, press and hold LB. It is an equivalent of the L1 button on PlayStation DualSense.
  2. If you play keyboard + mouse, holstering a gun is possible after pressing a Tab key.

If you remain stationary for an extended duration, the prompt will show up with the appropriate button. On the other hand, in games or apps that require constant movement to reach destinations or capture suspects (usually against the clock), it can be challenging to carve out moments for personal relaxation and admiration of the surroundings and cityscape. Consequently, the alert slipped past me momentarily. Yet, we’re aware now. Best of luck as you tackle those criminals!
