International Emmy Winner Aokbab Chutimon to Star in Thai Horror ‘Fortune Seekers’ as Night Edge Pictures Debuts Sales in Cannes (EXCLUSIVE)

Award-winning Thai actor, Aokbab Chutimon (known for “Hunger” and “Bad Genius”), will star in the upcoming supernatural horror film titled “Fortune Seekers”. This project is set to be distributed internationally by Night Edge Pictures, based in Bangkok, who will introduce it at the Cannes Market.

In this new venture, both Chutimon and director Yanyong Kuruaungkoul, renowned for their work in comedies such as “App War” and “Ready, Set, Love,” explore the horror-thriller genre. The story revolves around Bua, a skincare clinic assistant who has faced misfortune since birth. She stumbles upon a peculiar amulet that grants her the ability to temporarily take others’ good luck, but this power inadvertently summons a malevolent spirit that jeopardizes everything she cherishes dearly.

Hans Audric Estialbo of Night Edge Pictures explained to EbMaster that fortune often finds those who actively pursue it, but what if you stumble upon something sinister instead? He described “Fortune Seekers” as a tale exploring themes of karma and desperation, delving into just how far someone might go in pursuit of the ultimate good luck.

According to Night Edge Pictures CEO Hans Audric Estialbo, speaking with EbMaster, while good fortune often comes to those who search for it, what happens when you instead uncover something malevolent? “Fortune Seekers” is a narrative about the law of karma and intense longing for good fortune, showing just how far someone might go in pursuit of the utmost luck.

Ploibutsara Phattrapornpisit, known as “Sotus”, and Wilasinee Ruangprajubkun penned the screenplay, while Nakarin Narkpreecha served as producer under the BeBrave banner. Nakarin expressed his anticipation about exploring the sinister aspects of both Aokbab’s and Yanyong’s characters, stating, “We can’t wait to delve into the dark sides these two characters hold.

The movie has a team of co-producers consisting of Matching Maximize from Thailand, White Light Studio also from Thailand, and Astro Shaw, a prominent Malaysian entertainment company. Night Edge Pictures, a Thai distributor known for hits like “Talk to Me,” “Terrifier 3,” and “Late Night With the Devil,” as well as the body horror film “Together” under Neon’s label, will serve as executive producers.

Raja Jastina Raja Arshad, who is the head of Astro Shaw, highlighted the film’s ability to surpass geographical boundaries by stating: “For a long time, horror has served as a potent reflection of our cultural values, inherited anxieties, and everyday apprehensions. This movie maintains that tradition – grounded in the familiar while infused with creative vision and emotional resonance.

Following my groundbreaking success with Netflix’s “Hunger,” which propelled me to international acclaim as the first Thai actor to win an International Emmy Award for best actress performance, I am now embarking on a new project. This culinary drama has created a stir, landing at the top of Netflix’s Global Top 10 Non-English Films chart in 51 countries and igniting the “Crybaby Noodles” trend worldwide. This achievement not only boosted my own profile but also expanded global recognition for Thai content.

As a passionate film enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that the highly anticipated production titled “Fortune Seekers” is now entering its pre-production phase, aiming for a grand premiere in the third quarter of 2026.
