Prepare yourselves, paper vendors, be they male, female, or non-binary, it’s time for the distribution of “The Daily Publication”. A new humorous series titled “The Paper“, reminiscent of “The Office” and set in the same universe, is slated to debut in September. This was confirmed at the NBC upfronts on May 12. The upcoming mockumentary series, created by Greg Daniels, who was behind “The Office” (US), and Michael Koman from “Nathan for You”, will feature Domhnall Gleeson (“Ex Machina”), Sabrina Impacciatore (“White Lotus”), and one returning cast member from “The Office”, Oscar Nuñez, reprising his role as Oscar. Interestingly, the series is linked to “The Office” not only through Oscar but also because it is being documented by the same documentary crew that previously captured the events at Dunder Mifflin, now focusing on their efforts to resurrect a struggling Toledo newspaper known as “The Truth Teller”.
Initially, the scene shows Gleeson perched atop a table, while Nunez, portraying Oscar after a 12-year hiatus, observes. Given his current job at “The Truth Teller,” it’s reasonable to assume that Oscar didn’t secure the state Senate position he sought in the final season of “The Office.” Characters like Dwight (Rainn Wilson) and Angela (Angela Kinsey), who were made their child’s godparents in season nine, have a chance to reappear. The series will only be available on Peacock. Be careful not to mistakenly watch “The Paper,” either the 1994 movie about a tabloid or the 2008 MTV reality show about a student newspaper.
